NEW RESTAURANTS🍴Puri

The location of the former Subway on 8617 Santa Monica Blvd. will soon be home to a new restaurant called LA Puri serving “artisinal” khachapuri.

Khachapuri is a warm, boat-shaped yeast bread stuffed with a variety of cheeses and an egg in the center which originated in the former Soviet republic of Georgia but is a favorite in Armenia and popular throughout the South Caucasus region of Asia.

The restaurant’s window vinyls are giving El Pollo Loco, promising “cheese-filled bites” and “heritage on your plate.”

No word on when the ovens turn on. Their official website — http://la-puri.com — isn’t finished cooking yet either as of publication time.

Gotta be better than that sad Kale place that never has anyone in it.

Georgian food is not only incredible, but it’s becoming a very popular cuisine in cities like New York and DC. I’m excited to have a taste of Georgia here in WeHo! I lived there for a couple of years and desperately miss the food. Also, khachapuri is just cheese and bread…what is there not to like?

Thanks Sarah. glad to hear from someone that has experience beyond the borders of Weho. Hope you will be inspired to campaign again for City Council.

Seems very specific, but wishing them the luck. Can’t be any worse than subway and the terrible franchisee that ran the one that closed.

I walked by yesterday and looked at their website to see what kind of food this is their website isn’t even up…
This is too funky for westhollywood just like the Halal guys!
If subway an international company can’t make it in that place what makes him think selling some unheard of food is going to be popular here in West Hollywood. What we need is just regular American food like an In-N-Out or smash burger or something that’s open till 2 AM

Just what we need more of, folks with limited vision and less imagination.

I miss Subway. Bring it back, please. Nope. I don’t eat silly-sounding food that I can’t pronounce.

Please expand your mind and experience. One can travel to different cultures through foods. Georgian food is terrific and so are their wines.

I have no doubt but maybe this place would be better located in Glendale or Hollywood where these dishes are better appreciated. Let’s face it, you need to go where your market is. This place will be closed in six months. Of course it will be the fault of the WeHo minimum wage.

JFC, Steve. Why can’t West Hollywood have different cuisines? So only thai food should be in thai town? Chinese food should only be in the San Gabriel Valley?

Exactly, if the Chamber of Commerce was really on their toes they could devise a plan to bring International Dining to West Hollywood. But that would take some sophistication and know how.

Ideally you are right but restaurants don’t work that way. We have seen plenty of places come and go because there was no real demand. It is expensive to open a place here and often people open with more hope than accurate sense of their market. Then people blame it on the minimum wage.

So, I don’t get it. Tell them to go to Glendale? You think they don’t know about their own business? I once stumbled into a Georgian restaurant in Warwick, New York, located in the rear of a Jewelry store. This sign in the window said “Georgian Food” and we wondered what that was all about. A great discovery 10 tables with pristine linens and silver set for a most delicious dinner. We were lucky, as they had one cancellation in an otherwise perpetually booked room. It was novel and highly successful, owned by the friendliest folks ever. Mr. Martin, isn’t… Read more »
