Salon Republic will join John Reed Fitness in rebirth of West Hollywood’s rainbow district

Salon Republic, which rents shared workspaces to freelance hair stylists has leased the entire second floor of 8550 Santa Monica Blvd. formerly occupied by ‘The Wing’.

Michael Talla, owner and developer of the complex that spans from from Westbourne Drive to West Knoll Drive along Santa Monica Blvd. confirmed the news along with an anticipated Oct. 21 opening of the John Reed Fitness Center. Salon Republic will offer the opportunity to 85 small businesses owners to set up shop in the heart of West Hollywood. The complex is also home to Capitol Drugs, Sweat Yoga, Blu Nails, Rawberri and the YMLA shop. In addition the John Reed Fitness center will house a large juice bar cafe located between its main entrance and YMLA.

Changes to the complex will re-house the Blu Nails to within Salon Republic on the 2nd floor. A major branded coffee house will join the complex in an open space on the first floor. The last available space will house a rejuvenation spa.

The Sprouts location is still in the possession of the Sprouts corporation but Talla said he is working on a tenant and hopes to have an announcement in the next 60 days. WEHOville agreed to keep the tenant confidential but can describe it as an upscale market that is not currently serving the City of West Hollywood.

“Every tenant we have signed is an upgrade to the tenant who had previously occupied the space.”, said Talla. “The entire complex is leased”

Because the last upscale market failed, let’s try again with the same concept? With two Bristol Farms nearby, a Gelsons, an Erewhon, a Whole Foods, and a Lassens, we certainly don’t have enough!

An Aldi would actually service a diff need/market.

There’s already a Bristol Farms in West Hollywood on Beverly and the small one on Sunset. Mother’s Market is further East on SMB. I think Brian may be correct. Although Erewhon is at The Grove if you look on their website West Hollywood is practically the only city they do not have a location and they have been opening stores like crazy.

Erewhon is too smart to move into that dead zone.

Oh I saw someone comment Mother’s Market.

That definitely makes sense. I doubt Erewhon would open another location between their Grover and Beverly Hills spots.

This is not an employer. It’s just WeWorks for salons.

Hard to believe, innit?

Awesome news!

Will we have a fabulous graphic showing all of the businesses added since the minimum wage increase, increased crime because of the Ambassador regime, or the horrible marxist City Council?

It’s funny- you hardly ever see those people celebrate new businesses in the comments here.

I wonder why that is? 🤔

Isn’t it amazing that no matter how horribly run this city is at the moment, we have those that will not criticize (ever) the current council. Either they have their heads buried in the sand or they’re friends of. No one with connected brain cells would unilaterally refrain from criticizing what is obviously bad policies that are having a direct negative effect on our city. Happy to see new businesses opening up to replace the many that have been forced to close because of the challenges our council has imposed on them. A few new openings however won’t make up… Read more »

What’s even more amazing is that having followed Wehoville for many years now and seen city council members come and go, the only thing that remains the same is the spirit of perpetual discontent among a very vocal minority. And if this minority here was actually honest, they would recognize and admit that it’s not going to make a difference who is on any city council, past present or future, they’re never going to be happy. It’s modern day society you don’t happen to like, and there’s no cure for that. Whoever eventually replaces this current make up of the… Read more »

Don’t look now but you’re one of those people that has their head buried in the sand or you’re a friend of. That’s the only explanation for such a delusional conclusion. Prior to the election of Shyne, Erickson and Byers (and Horvath’s sharp turn to the progressive left fringe) this city was doing very well. And despite some differences with council decisions (which you’re always going to have), the vast majority of people would agree that this city was well run. You’d have to be completely dumb, deaf and blind to think the same in 2023. To think that the… Read more »

No, I’m just not living in the past as you seem to be doing perpetually, along with the rest of the conservative leaning troupe always posting here. The only current council member I have ever even met is John Heilman and we’re not friends. People here on this site were perpetually whinging about John Duran so he’s gone. The same was the case with council members like D’Amico, Sal Guarrielo, Land, Prang, Steve Martin’s still here in the comments but he got the boot long ago because of whining and complaining just like this. If you were here, then you… Read more »

2003 called, they want their “NIMBY” word back. Get with it, it’s 2023. You’re living in the past.

How many times do I have to make this clear for you? NIMBYs literally either want to go back in time, or they want everything preserved in amber for eternity. I’m the opposite of that, and I’m doing everything I can to make that clear. To progress and evolve, always!

Great news. The owners of the complex are right, especially if Erewhon is the grocer, that all are upgrades. I did hear the Ramada owner also has a new tenant lined up for the Kitchen 24 space. Larry-any intel on that.

Yeah! Can’t wait for the $26 “oxygenated” bottled water and $17 smoothies. Whoo-hoo!
