We need to go back to electing adults to city council. With Unethical Erickson on his way to being queen for a year we’ll need a superhero to rescue us.

There are concerns about outside influences using West Hollywood as a testing ground for radical national agendas. This has led to a disregard for the safety and well-being of residents…Restaurans/Businesses are Closing, while Crime,Homelessness,Pot Shops and Night Clubs are Booming in West Hollywood !

Criminals know that West Hollywood is “easy pickings” and that the District Attorney probably won’t prosecute. Law enforcement officers need to be brought back on the job and not shut down by a City Council who are in it to leverage the power and control they seek. Voters, it’s up to you.

Prosecute who??? Who is being arrested? Almost no one. Same with the smash and grabs.

Arrests are made and prosecutors are not allowed to prosecute per District Attorney George Gascon’s day one directives. Seriously, look them up, they are in the public domain. I have all seventeen of them. The breadth of their damage to public safety will shock anyone.

Again, how many are actually getting caught? Gascon did not write the laws here. The laws need to change.

This is just horrible. Thank you, Lindsey “defund the police” Horvath for ruining the City. Crickets from Sepi. I think she’s too busy planning her next gifted free luxury vacation to Israel, to solve world problems, rather than what goes on here. I kind of get it, it’s not as fun to fix local problems as being given hot towels by airline staff in a premier cabin, over Greenland, while her city rots. And I’m sympathetic to what goes on in Iran, but to waste so much meeting time, preaching to the choir, while accomplishing nothing, is so selfish. Why… Read more »

Right, what a waste of time! Her speech even offensive to the women in Iran. Our residents and businesses are expressing them concerns regarding her policies and political aspirations and she’s taking it as an attack to the women from Iran… it is disgusting this type of manipulative approach passive aggressive. Erickson too starting all of that approach, they probably put it together in the 10 minutes break. Is ok to take a break of 10 minutes but not ok making the residents and business community??? Just local here 11 is important, political debs are paid!

This is not a restaurant problem. This is a voter problem. Defund the police? No or low bail? No prosecution? These items and more are the issues that lead to empowering people to live a life of crime. I just watched a video of all the businesses closing on Hollywood BLVD. Cause and effect. The same applies for high prices for energy, food, clothing, cars, etc. My biz doesn’t depend on the local economy but YMMV. Vote blue and go broke. Vote red and get ahead. Ask yourself this: Are you better off now than you were in 2017->2020 (pre covid)?… Read more »

I agree but a lot of democrats don’t know what is going on. Someone at my work mentioned how you had to have a job and a way to support yourself to move to many countries. Another worker said that is the way it is in the US too. I had to explain to him about people pouring through our southern border. He honestly did not know anything about the open border. He is a Biden voter.

The border is no more open than when Trump was president.

I think you’re a bit naive. Neither political party is perfect, but the Republicans have no better record dealing with crime, and they are the party of delusion, insurrection, overthrowing democracy, lies and deceit. The biggest problem is we don’t have enough jails and prisons. We need to quadruple up on capacity right now. They aren’t supposed to be luxury vacation places. They should be places people fear going to. And it pains me to say I’m having a private event, and I don’t like the preventable crime in my city, and I don’t like paying $50 for guests to… Read more »

Enjoy your crime infested hole. Insurrection? No one has been charged with this code. Crime is largely a blue city issue. But you keep telling yourself high inflation, high crime, high rent, etc. is for you. Honestly, calling someone else naive while you exemplify even definition of the word is rich. Keep voting blue and ignore the truth. You deserve no better. Besides, all of your talking points are backed with zero facts. It is Biden who has sold this country down the river. The receipts that Comer has unveiled shows at least $20 million going into the 20 LLCs.… Read more »

Wow. People should be aware Trumpies who deny election results are amongst us. You’re sad cause your guy couldn’t win an election fairly. Remember when there was supposed to be this massive “red wave” a-coming, and it didn’t happen? This next election is gonna be far worse for fact-deniers. All I know is when Biden won, he inherited the worst economic situation in history (don’t blame “covid”, which your guy made a lot worse by denying it). And the current economic situation is surprisingly pretty good with full employment. We know the doom and gloom people root against our country.

Sparky, crime is significantly higher in cities in red states. Stop either the fantasy “crime is a blue city problem”. It’s not.

4k for an event? Is it catered by IHOP? Unless you have your own venue and can work around peak hours, that’s a pretty tight budget for anywhere on the West side.

I don’t agree with any of the policies, but I’ve come to the conclusion a lot of these are simply people being easy targets. Not how it should be, but is the world we live in. Who walks alone to their car at 2am (likely a few drinks) with a $120,000 watch on? It is obvious these people are stalking people they see in bars/restaurants and then jumping them later. People need to be smarter also. The $950 policy I disagree with, but this is a $120,000 theft. The issue is a lot of people come to WeHo to flaunt… Read more »

Such an odd saying, as red states are some of the poorest. You care about crime, but Trump, the biggest criminal of all, you have no problem with? Ridiculous.

Did Genevieve Morrill intend to discuss this at Monday’s City Council meeting? The Mayor shut her down, leading to a heated exchange in the chambers. It’s rare to see Morrill so upset, indicating the growing frustrations she and the business community are experiencing.

At what point on the agenda did Shyne shut GM down? Since I was in and out of the video, I heard reference to it in final Public Comments but unable to locate exact exchange.

It happened around the 1hr 24min mark. I’m surprised it hasn’t been covered by the media.

Thank you. It seems that Shyne moved GM to the end of meeting Public Comment period much to the consternation of the public. Shyne’s subtle and not too subtle lack of respect for meeting protocol, the public driven by personal irrational angry, inner tirades illustrate her unfitness for public office. Shyne shows intense bias against specific individuals and elements of the community she personally dislikes.

She even goes so far as to issue direct threats of retaliation as she did in my case when she demanded Genevieve remove me from the BOD of the Chamber because she did not like what I said about her in a piece I wrote for this publication. Though this is a clear violation of 3 codes from our city Code of Ethics and a violation of my 14th Amendment rights our city manager and attorney refused to do anything about it. When I then suggested to another council member that they had the right to censure her, he offered… Read more »

Where are the foot patrols? Where are the deputies on the ground? Ambassadors are useless and go the opposite direction from any trouble, I’ve witnessed that myself. Clean up West Hollywood, Shyne and Luna.

Sepi Shyne, Lindsey Horvath, John Erickson, Chelsea Byers. They voted to defund the police in West Hollywood. They are the real criminals. The thugs are just accepting their open invitation to hurt residents.

Erickson voted to defund the police, as did his commissioner Tod Halman. He did not join Meister and Heilman in the no do not cut the Sheriff category or it would not have been cut.
