The former home of Uncool Burger on Fairfax and Santa Monica Blvd. is springing to life again.
A burning red stripe of neon across the top of the building announces that “Eat Thai” is coming soon, replacing the former burger joint on the western edge of the Whole Foods shopping strip.
We’re going to venture it’s a Thai restaurant. Beyond that, it’s all still a mystery.
But the neon light immediately remedies one of Uncool Burger’s major problems, which was that you could not see the restaurant’s sign behind the large pergola covering the outdoor seating area.
We appreciate that the owners chose to honor Uncool Burger by giving their restaurant an equally amusing, deadpan name. Hopefully, the novelty will last longer than its predecessor, which closed after a single year in business.
I love excellent Thai food and this is close to home.
There is another Thai restaurant in the Whole Foods complex, but this is still welcome.
I wish them luck.
