Adios, Justin Queso.
Rumors that the Tex-Mex bar and grill Sunset Strip had closed down appear to hold water judging by the dark and empty venue at 10 p.m. last night. Justin Queso’s website says it’s supposed to be open till 2 a.m.
The restaurant, which shared owners with its next-door neighbor Rock N’ Reilly’s, opened at 8917 W. Sunset Boulevard in mid-2021 amid the pandemic right as the government started allowing limited indoor dining again.
Justin Queso is the latest in a string of WeHo restaurants to shut its doors. Big Mama and Papa’s Pizzeria also closed up shop within the past week.

do we get our sidewalks back from the tent community? It’s not very ADA compliant but you don’t say crap about that. But want to talk smack about businesses that were forced to work outdoors to stay alive during your plexiglass pandemic. Shut your mouth.
Just an awful place. Food was bad, service was spotty and the space odd. How they got to take the sidewalk and parking spots is beyond me. A lot of work going on in the former Sunset Deli location, so I hope a similar business opens. Some great new spots on Sunset as well, Charcoal is awesome, Bar Next Door is so cool and Hudson House is fun plus Sunset Plaza is almost fully leased again.

Sunset Deli just a block away has closed down as well.
They are actively working in the space, I think it will open as something similar soon.
Do we get our sidewalk back that the City sold to JQ without public process? We would like to regain the 2-3 public metered parking spaces that are so desperately needed on Sunset – which would also benefit any future establishment that goes in there since they don’t have any parking.

Meh. Just what L.A. doesn’t need, another taco place. We don’t want any more pot shops either. Let’s see more pizzerias around town.
And so it goes. And goes. And goes. When is enough enough? When is this council going to admit something is making businesses of all sizes to close? How many more failures will it take before rescuing the City of West Hollywood becomes a priority?
I have to ask, did you ever go there? If so, how can you blame the city. It was just awful on many levels.
Third closing in a week! Unbelievable. How many more businesses need to close before the council wakes up and admits that their policies are failing? Our local government is failing us.
Another space now available for a Pot Shop?
I sure hope not! Actually, there was a dispensary on that block several years ago, and it was robbed. As I recall, also, the security guard was shot and killed!
Two other businesses have closed within a block radius of Justin Queso’s in the last two weeks. Chase Bank is gone and so is the Sunset Deli, which used to make great sandwiches!
Yup. It’s crazy. How many more businesses must close before things change?! It’s going to get harder and harder for people to defend this council as more and more businesses close.
So do failed businesses have *any* responsibility anymore? Every closing is the fault of the city council?
Do you honestly believe this? Plenty of restaurants closed and opened for as long as West Hollywood as been a city. It’s a hard industry.
