Drag queen Momma, a.k.a. Worthie Paul Meacham, has died, according to friends and family.
The vibrant and much-adored performer was known as a host for fundraisers and LGBTQ-related events.
Meacham was last seen out of costume and in a wheelchair. No cause of death or information on services is currently available.
Omg. R.I.P., Momma, who was a WeHo staple back in the day before drag was a trend. She was always super-cool. Out of drag, Worthy was the emcee in the video for the Dandy Warhols’ “Not if You were the Last Junkie” video. You can see him at the start of this short version of the video: https://youtu.be/9mgjZK46_uw?si=jUimU2Ls28sPKIby
This is sad news. Back in the day as Lana Luster, I attended so many events and benefits along with my XXX gang and Momma.
RIP, Momma – you brought so much joy and so many smiles to this town.
Momma was a legend in a world where drag meant and required wit. She was smart and actually had something to say, and support. RIP to a rare legend.
I am so sorry to hear this news. I had texted him several times in the past three weeks with news about Disneyland and he did not respond so I thought he was just very busy.
Rest in peace
