The West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station has released its September 2023 crime stats in advance of tonight’s Public Safety Commission, and WEHOville has done some number crunching.

The monthly report typically features data from the same month one year ago. However, many have requested that the department compare the current month’s statistics with the previous month’s, and that’s what we’ve assembled for you here.

In September, the department received 1,699 calls for service, a decrease from 1,934 calls in August. Observations were also down, totaling 1,358 compared to 1,499 in August. Felony arrests decreased to 38 from 58 in the previous month, while misdemeanor arrests decreased to 119 from 90. The total number of arrests for September was 128, a decrease from 177 in August.

Emergency response times improved, with a new average time of 3.4 minutes, a decline from 4.2 minutes in August. Routine response times were also reduced, averaging 29.3 minutes. Deputies responded to 243 fewer routine incidents in August than in September.

Thefts fell from 54 to 41 since last month. Non-aggravated assaults saw the only noticeable uptick among Part II crimes.

The sheriffs will present these figures in greater detail and context tonight at 6 p.m. during the Public Safety Commission’s meeting.

I see ZERO arrests for vagrancy. How can that be with so many vagrants terrorizing people on the street on a daily basis? They didn’t think to arrest the man who spent the entire day completely naked at the bus stop on Santa Monica Blvd/La Cienega.

Uhhh…The article stated: …while misdemeanor arrests decreased to 119 from 90.  I think you meant that arrests decreased to 90 from 119. You may want to correct this.
