AIDS Walk Los Angeles, the world’s first walk to combat HIV and AIDS, benefits APLA Health, a provider of LGBTQ+ empowering healthcare, HIV specialty care, food, housing, and essential support services. Over the past 38 years, this event has raised more than $94 million, providing critical support to over 18,000 individuals in Los Angeles County, which has the second-largest population of people living with HIV in the United States.

AIDS Walk L.A. has a rich history, beginning with its inaugural walk at Paramount Studios on July 28, 1985, just days after Rock Hudson’s public AIDS diagnosis. Hudson’s revelation marked a turning point in AIDS awareness in the United States, leading to increased donations and participation in AIDS Walk events. Paramount Studios continued to host the event until the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001, after which West Hollywood took over as the event’s host. In 2016, the event temporarily relocated to Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles, aiming to make it more accessible to people from various parts of the city. In 2022, West Hollywood once again became the host, with West Hollywood Park as the central location.
