DA’s Office now has ‘Latine’ Advisory Board

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón has unveiled the creation of the inaugural Latine Advisory Board within his office. This initiative aims to foster open communication and seeks to build a more inclusive, synergistic, and trusted bond with the communities in LA, as stated by officials.

Gascón highlighted that nearly fifty percent of the population in LA County identifies as Latine. He added, “Being a Latino who grew up in Los Angeles, I have a firsthand understanding of how the Latine demographic is among the most significantly affected by the criminal justice system’s outcomes. This is seen both in the disproportionate sentencing they receive, and the victimization they endure from malicious individuals.”

The initial members of the Latine Advisory Board have been named as Yesenia Acosta, Adela Barajas, Franky Carrillo, Bruno Hernandez, Paxcely Marquez, and Michael Anthony Mendoza.

The board is set to champion increased diversity, equity, and inclusion in the policies and operations within the DA’s office of LA County, officials noted.

“Latine” is apparently a neologism synonymous with “Latinx,” the highly polarizing term used as a gender-neutral alternative to “Latino” or “Latina.”

Users of both terms claim they promote inclusivity and reduce gender discrimination, especially for individuals whose gender identities fall outside the binary.

“Latinx,” which surfaced around 2004, gained traction in academic circles but has faced widespread criticism from Hispanics for its pronunciation difficulty in Spanish and misattributions regarding its origin, sometimes seen as a form of colonialism. “Latine” emerged around 2016.

I wish DEI would DIE! We are becoming only more divided and I can’t help but believe it is by design.

Everybody obey the law and when you don’t be prepared to face the consequences. If one group disobeys the law more than those in some other group then, ….. well, that’s on them.

While the city of LA slips into third world conditions, the politicians are creating new words.

One-party control has been ruinous for the state.

More racial division in society. What ever happened to respect for all, a concept I learned as a child from family and educators which resulted in an appreciation for differences. That seemed to be the original philosophy intended in West Hollywood which has now turned into the marginalization shouting match game. Adult children should learn how to get along and focus on issues rather than alphabets.

More racially divisive politics from City Hall. Why don’t we have a Jewish Advisory Board in Los Angeles? It’s way overdue.

To be fair, they would need perhaps 10,000 new Advisory Boards to be inclusive of everyone. This is why a monster like Donald Trump was able to get elected. Making us out to often be fools. And it’s just as bad that our City has these selective Advisory Boards. A few groups get them, and perhaps 9,000 other groups don’t get them.

Most liberal politicians have no idea how most of the country feels about this nonsense. Trump is a lunatic but he pushes back against this, which is enough for many.
