A car chase that ended in a collision yesterday left a West Hollywood sheriff’s deputy with critical injuries, NBC 4 is reporting.
The incident unfolded as deputies from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station were responding to a burglary alert shortly before the mishap at 4:38 p.m.
The chase commenced near San Vicente Boulevard and Cynthia Street when the alleged burglar made an abrupt U-turn, crashing into the deputies’ patrol car. Following the collision, both deputies were rushed to Cedars Sinai Medical Center; one is in critical yet stable condition, while the other is recuperating from minor wounds, as per the authorities.
Sheriff Robert Luna remarked on the peril posed by the fleeing suspects, emphasizing the deputies’ intent to safeguard the community which unfortunately resulted in their injuries. The suspect managed to flee the scene and remains on the loose.
