Love that the Halloween Carnival was such an overwhelming success. Love the law enforcement presence. Love even more the clean up that seems to happen by magic overnight in the wee hours. Don’t love that at 8:45am on 10/31 it took over an hour to get to clear non-blockaded street to go to work. The streets were closed way too early. Hate that the city thought residents that paid for this spectacle and treasury booster didn’t deserve to have residential permit parking enforced. Suspension of permit parking has been going on for Halloween (and Pride) for decades. I would presume it’s less of a nuisance these days with Uber and such available. Getting here in your own car with so many streets closed and finding a parking space when anyone can suddenly park anywhere is a giant hassle I’m sure most people avoid with RideShare options. So perhaps complain less about a problem that’s only gotten better in recent years.

I was pleased that I saw very few children, although I did see parents with strollers three times (what were they thinking?!) And I think I saw only three or four dogs … on leashes (animal cruelty!). I would suggest in the future that people not wear or carry anything that could put your eye out. Angel wings and fairy wands can do some damage!
