TikToker: Pacific Designer Center doesn’t own the sidewalk

TikToker @joyofeverything is not overjoyed with authorities who kicked him off the sidewalk adjacent to the Pacific Design Center while a private outdoor event was being held on a recent night in West Hollywood

He was attempting to film Snoop Dogg, who was performing in the courtyard of the PDC, through a chainlink fence on the perimeter of the event when sheriffs intervened and asked him to leave.

The confrontation was peaceful but in his video @joyofeverything contests the legality of his removal.

“West Hollywood law enforcement officers declare public sidewalks as private property because Snoop Dogg is performing for Kim Kardashian and other elites inside of some circus tent,” he said. “Private events should not prevent the public from walking down a sidewalk paid for by our tax dollars.”

“That’s why it’s so expensive to live in California.”

By being so close you have shown how easily anyone with a motive can cause harm or injury to those in attendance, i.e. shooting a gun through the fence, tossing a bomb over the fence, etc.

I loathe Tik-Tokers, but this person is 100 percent correct. Whenever there’s any kind of celebrity event in L.A., the security tries to change the rules and tell you that you can’t stand on the sidewalk. They do this all the time and they’ve done this forever. It should be stopped, because they don’t own the sidewalk. But to do all this over Snoop Dogg and Kim Kardashian is a rather embarrassing. While we’re on the subject of Tik-Tok…in my day, what would be considered “influencers” that were coming up at the time were people like Madonna, Prince, Van Halen…… Read more »

The city blocks public streets all the time for events. If it’s a security issue they can block the sidewalk.

Ahem… Neither street nor sidewalk were blocked off. Public rights of way. The citizen is absolutely right to stand up for his rights. I agree it was tacky & unprofessional for the lady sheriff to be chewing gum on the job & in peoples’ faces.
