The Rainbow faces new lawsuit over alleged Ron Jeremy sexual assaults

The Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood has been hit with another lawsuit for its alleged role in facilitating a purported sexual assault involving adult film actor Ron Jeremy.

The plaintiff, an anonymous woman, asserts that she was assaulted by Jeremy within the premises of the bar in April 2019. This legal action, which was filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, accuses the establishment of negligence, alleging that it provided an environment conducive to such incidents.

This lawsuit is not an isolated case; it follows similar allegations made against Jeremy and The Rainbow Bar. These earlier claims, also targeting Rockin’ Horse, Inc., the bar’s parent company, surfaced three months before the current case.

The complainant’s accusations pertain to an incident that happened on April 14, 2019. This date precedes Jeremy’s initial legal troubles, where he was charged with raping four women. By August 2021, his charges had escalated to 34 counts of sexual assault, involving 21 victims, including minors. These allegations, dating back to 1996, involve victims aged between 15 and 51. Several of these reported assaults are said to have occurred at The Rainbow Bar, as per a grand jury transcript acquired by Rolling Stone.

Jeremy, whose legal name is Ronald Jeremy Hyatt, has denied these accusations. Nevertheless, in January of the preceding year, he was deemed unfit to stand trial and is currently in a state hospital.

The lawsuit details an encounter where Jeremy allegedly engaged the plaintiff in conversation, lured her to a secluded spot in the bar, and forcibly autographed her breast against her will. It is further claimed that a bar employee witnessed this assault but chose not to intervene.

This legal action challenges The Rainbow Bar’s management, alleging that they should have been aware of Jeremy’s reported predatory behavior. The lawsuit claims that he was allowed access to various areas of the venue, including a staff restroom, supposedly used for committing sexual offenses.

Previous allegations against Jeremy at The Rainbow Bar were also made by Emily J. Sullivan, a former employee, who accused him of groping patrons and staff, referring to it as the “Ron Jeremy Tickle.”

The legal team representing The Rainbow Bar in the civil case filed last August has not yet responded to these latest claims. In their earlier defense, they denied any foreknowledge of Jeremy’s alleged actions, asserting that such incidents were unexpected and occurred without their consent.

The plaintiff, represented by attorney Aaron Osten, is seeking damages for her suffering, including medical costs, lost earnings, and the expenses related to the lawsuit.
