Mayor Pro Tem John Erickson presented Jones Hollywood and several of its vendors with a proclamation Monday for going above and beyond to take care of the cafe’s employees in the wake of a vehicle crash that left the restaurant closed.
Several weeks ago, a car collided into the facade of the building, forcing the cafe to shutter operations right as the holiday season started. The cafe and vendors held a fundraiser Nov. 28 which raised more than $11,500 to support its employees.
“This is the type of presentation we love doing because we get to not only uplift and honor so many in our community who are working to make a difference, but also those that went out of their way to ensure one of our amazing local businesses, and one you’ll probably find me stuffing my face with spaghetti at way too late of a night, Jones Hollywood, to making sure that they come back better than ever,” Erickson said.
“I want to express my gratitude to Tom, Sophia of Employees Only, the entire team at Employees Only, Eddie Johnson who works for Bombay Sapphire, Casey Lambert who works for Bacardi, and Joshua Janowitz who works for Grey Goose,” Erickson said. “You all are the type of people we should aspire to be in this world. You collaborated and put on a successful event not because you were asked to, but because you wanted to, because you saw your community hurting and you took action.”
“The love that was felt for Jones and the employees is really hard to put into words, and it was just really amazing, and we’re all tremendously grateful for the support that we have received,” said Jones employee Floyd Lewis, speaking on behalf of the business.
