George Nickle launches bid for 2024 WeHo Council seat

Public Safety Commissioner George Nickle has filed papers to run for a seat on the West Hollywood City Council in 2024.

Nickle is the direct appointee of Council member Lauren Meister.   He was first appointed to the Public Safety Commission in 2022.   Nickle also previously worked on Steve Martin’s 2022 campaign for WeHo Council, serving as his treasurer.

George Nickle is a 19-year resident of the Eastside of West Hollywood.   He is a renter and married to his husband Alex.  He is the director of sales and business development at Leosons International, a provider of pharmaceuticals, over-the-counter products and medical equipment.

The George Nickle for WeHo City Council campaign kickoff is scheduled for this Thursday, December 21st, from 7pm to 9pm at the Dialog Cafe.

George Nickle speaks the truth, it’s annoying how commissioner Tod Hallman tries to silence and stares at Nickle’s when speaking at public safety meetings.

Anyone associated with Steve Martin disqualifies him from consideration. FULL STOP

That is missing the point. George Nickel appears to be a constructive, thoughtful person. It would be easy for Steve Martin to commend George even though Steve gets in his own way much of the time. He might observe and keep his frequent sarcasm to himself as well as the besting of others.

Mr. Nickel comes from a working class family and understands the struggles working people in WeHo are facing. I disagree with his misguided advancement of surveillance technology as a solution to crime, and he needs to be educated on some issues rather than take the predictable “oppositional” stance that misses the mark. I also wish he had the boldness to raise crucial issues on Public Safety Commission such as political violence and medical discrimination, rather than play it safe with lukewarm “counter” positions that don’t really challenge the status quo. However he is willing to listen to constituents concerns and… Read more »

I’m very happy to endorse George. He’s exactly the kind of person we need on City Council. He’s very level headed, hard working, diligent, sincere, caring, and has lived here long enough to truly understand what has always made us unique and still does. Just as importantly, he will not be beholden to any special interests, he would be representing us. If you do not already know him, I urge you to show up for one of his events to meet and talk to him.

His association to Steve Martin is a bit troubling. Martin is wrong on most issues.

Steve has the right principles even if they sometimes lead him to the wrong conclusions, and I’ve increasingly appreciated his voice in our local scene the last few years.

Proudly endorse George Nickle for West Hollywood City Council.

He is the community leader and community voice West Hollywood needs now more than ever: critically engaged, pragmatic voice, passionate about all of our safety, community centered, kind, empathetic, moral, ethical, animal lover…

I will do my part to make sure he is elected and seated on our Council.

I don’t know where he stands on the issues, but if has been appointed by Lauren Meister, than he’s starting off on a good foot. Shyne and Erickson need to go. Meister cannot run again (term limits). Hopefully Alan Strasburg will run!!! (we need a resident that cares about this city). We’re still going to need at least one more NON-progressive political hack (that’s not owned by the union) to run!

YES! YES! YES!
George is qualified.
A long time West Hollywood resident. (east side).
Informed.
Honest.
Not afraid to speak his mind.
Respectful.
Has the residents and our city as his #1 priority.
Does his homework.

I am confident George is the right person for 2024.

PLEASE SUPPORT HIS BID FOR CITY COUNCIL.

Sounds good. Does he support the sheriffs? Is he beholden to Unite Here? We don’t need another Shyne, Erickson or Byers.

He spoke out against the de-funding of the Sheriff that was originally approved by the City Council. As a long time neighborhood watch organizer, George is connected to the real world problems we face here in West Hollywood.

George is a proven thinker who clearly understands the nuts and bolts of sound municipal governance. He’s always prepared, always keenly analytical, and presents his positions and questions with authority, reason, judgment and eloquence. Residents need George on council!

Very happy to hear you like George…that’s another good indication that we have at least one solid candidate. Excited to learn more about him.

Sounds like one of the most reasonable and qualified candidates we’ve had in many years. Preferable to all current city council members except for Lauren Meister and maybe John Hellman.
