NEW RESTAURANTS ♨ Oheya

Hot on the heels of Uchi’s debut in West Hollywood, Oheya has announced it will be opening up next door to its sister restaurant late next year.

Meaning “the room” in Japanese, Oheya will feature a 14-seat dining space next to Uchi (“the house”) on Santa Monica Boulevard.

Oheya first made its mark in Houston back in March. The L.A. branch is poised to offer an omakase menu, which will be crafted in partnership with one of the chefs from Uchi’s other venues and the local L.A. culinary team. The Houston location, notable for its $175 chef-driven and personalized menu, is nestled inside a small bar area, discreetly indicated only by a marked door.

Just read this in Axios today:
Meanwhile, jeweler Jean Dousset, the great-great-grandson of Louis Cartier, sees an opportunity: luxury lab-grown diamonds.

  • He spent his career in natural diamonds, but this year opened a 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐛-𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐲𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝. In his view, making designer diamonds “hasn’t taken anything away from the mystique and the beauty of diamonds … it just reset the [price] scale.”

Great news. That building, with both residences and now two restaurants, will really liven up this part of SMB.
