UPDATE: La Boheme is *not* for sale

La Boheme owner Lucian Tudor told WEHOonline on Saturday that he has decided not to sell his establishment and instead will invest in some improvements to the West Hollywood restaurant.

“We are very grateful and feel lucky to have had so much support from this community for 33 years, and now it is time for us to support this community by staying and advocating for a better quality of life and policies for the residents of our city,” Tudor said.

“We did list La Boheme for sale back in the summer and received some great offers, but we became emotional about selling our location in West Hollywood and decided to stand with the community of West Hollywood for a safer city, fighting loudly against corrupted politicians for an improved quality of life and more sheriffs on our streets. We are also planning to invest in renovations of our outdoor dining area to improve the overall experience of our guests. We have found tremendous support from our neighbors who share our concerns regarding safety in West Hollywood.”

Lucian Tudor will just about say anything to fit his “narrative” at the moment…. I wouldn’t be surprised if La Boheme is listed for sale again. This business isn’t making any money & Tudor is doing anything he can to garner press. What a shit show of management.

The back and forth with this company is tiresome. He was on every news channel yesterday: selling and bashing West Hollywood. Today “we’re not selling and we love everyone”. No more. When you need trapeze acts in your resturant the food stinks and your going under (I’ve eaten there too many times in the last 3months, food is cold, service is dismal and the atmosphere that was once elegant and warm is loud and garish).Do I want them to leave Weho? No, but I won’t be eating there again.

Lucian Tudor is not the owner of Cafe La Boheme. It is owned by Global Dining California, a subsidiary of Global Dining Inc. headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, and is a publicly traded company. Lucien is seemingly the CEO of the California subsidiary. he would be part of the team deciding whether to sell, but it would not be his decision alone. It is against fiduciary rules for a public company.

Global Dining would take $10 million and run if it was offered. It is just too high a price based on their usable square footage, so like anyone selling their house, you take it off the market and wai. If they get city approval on the parking lot conversion, expect it to be relisted, but 10m is still too high. Not sure if there is any historical limits, but a developer would pay 6-7 million for the property, tear it down and build a big mixed use. That is most likely the end game.

They are just trying to get free press (which seems to be working if you watched the local news) to get the attention of a developer and get them to bite on the property. This guy, Lucian, is only the “CEO” of Global Dining California, which has only two restaurants, Cafe La Boheme and a place in Santa Monica,1212 Santa Monica, so “CEO” is a bit of a stretch, more like a regional manager.

I remember reading that basix was reopening and with bora and both those articles in the REDACTED was false. Thank you for clarifying and glad La Boheme is staying in weho.

This is great news but please have your staff enjoy West Hollywood and ditch the drab brown Munich beer garden uniforms!

It just seems like this guy loves to be in the spotlight. Doesn’t matter for what reason. He likes the bad press as well.
