Suspects crash stolen vehicle, escape from standoff at Melrose/Croft

Suspects in a vehicle theft allegedly crashed the automobile at the intersection of Melrose and Croft near the Los Angeles/West Hollywood border and sought cover in the vicinity around 8:30 p.m. Friday night, leading to a police standoff that ended empty-handed two hours later.

Police dispatch radio and users on the Citizen app reported on the incident throughout its duration.

A 9-1-1 call at 8:26 p.m alerted authorities to the crash at Melrose and Croft.

“Stolen vehicle ditched by suspect. LASD deputies were there and saw suspect disappeared into a nearby business,” user bc90069 wrote at 8:32 p.m.

The business was identified by users as Mel & Rose at 8344 Melrose Ave.

At 8:35 bc90069 wrote, “Deputies are setting up a perimeter around the building. Deputies are at an open door.”

Uses CkDee wrote at 8:59 p.m. “They’re asking the suspect to come out of the building otherwise K9 will be sent out to bite ‘him/her.'”

“Helicopter is still circling so not sure if suspect is caught,” Citizen90048 wrote at 9:19 p.m.

CkDee noted the helicopter was still circling at 9:41 p.m.

At 10:24 p.m., GMD009 wrote “Looks like they all walked out of the building no one in cuffs.”
