📸 The revamped Melrose Design District after dark

After many long months of construction which disrupted business and left storefronts in this posh area covered in dust, the re-imagined western end of Melrose Avenue is finally coming into view. 

The road is in the last stages of WeHo’s Design District and Undergrounding Project, which brought in new pavement, sidewalks, trees and landscaping, benches, bus stops and streetlights, smart city infrastructure installation, utility undergrounding, and the creation of new public gathering places with integrated public art.

WEHOonline took an evening stroll in and around the area to window shop in what’s shaping up to be West Hollywood’s version of Rodeo Drive.

A wonder if these street improvements really brought these businesses to the district. My biggest concern is nothing was done to improve parking and traffic flow. Some of the new infrastructure is questionable. Why no protected bike lanes were included in a plan where The City wants all streets to be available to all types of transportaion The new garbage bins can’t handle the amount of daily trash. Already overflowing Why are there multiple pedestrian crossings at a 4 way intersection instead of stop signs. I have witnessed way too many pedestrians dart into traffic without activating the crosswalks light… Read more »
