The Stonewall Democratic Club could not reach consensus on which candidate to endorse in race for California’s 30th Congressional District. The current occupant of the seat, Rep. Adam Schiff, is on the ballot for United States Senate.

Laura Friedman and Anthony Portantino went down to the wire as the top two candidates with the most votes but neither received the required 60 percent to secure the endorsement.

West Hollywood Councilmember Sepi Shyne received only 17 percent of the committee’s support finishing behind “No Endorsement” at 18 percent.  Mike Feuer, who is endorsed by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, received just 5 percent of the support of the Stonewall Democrats.

Friedman led the pack of candidates with 46 percent of the total vote, followed by Anthony Portantino with 30 percent of the overall support.

We need the Log Cabin Republicans back in full-throttle action. Those gay men were esteemed, non-judgmental, and working for the benefit of all gay people.
