Who are the top fundraisers in the race for Congress?

With Election Day less than a week away, the candidates hoping to succeed Rep. Adam Schiff in Congress have submitted their final fundraising and spending data to the Federal Elections Commission, and the numbers provide the clearest idea yet of which candidates will advance to the November runoff.

State Sen. Anthony Portantino led the pack in fundraising from day one, and he finishes as the top earner with $1,621,817.87 in contributions. LAUSD Boardmember Nick Melvoin edged out former City Attorney Mike Feuer, one of the strongest fundraisers early on in the race. Melvoin reported $1,438,780.71 in contributions, beating out Feuer’s $1,377,880.94 . Actor Ben Savage raised $1,373,820.41, much of which was in the form of personal loans to himself, and California Assemblymember Laura Friedman pulled in $1,087,029.17.

Feuer, however, has spent more than any other candidate in the race with $1,116,181.48 in expenditures. He’s followed by Portantino ($1,042,341.19), Ben Savage ($1,013,920.11)
and Melvoin ($1,008,900.94).

But it’s the candidates’ “cash on hand” figure — the amount of money available to spend in the final days of the race — that tends to prove most prescient when predicting a winnner.

Portantino leads with $579,476.68 in cash on hand, followed by Melvoin ($429,879.77), Savage ($359,544.58) and Feuer ($261,699.46).

West Hollywood Councilmember Sepi Shyne raised a total of $388,758.48, spent a total of $327,409.09 and has $61,349.39 left in her coffers.

Judging by the dollar signs, it’s likely to be Portantino facing off against Melvoin or Feuer in the general election in November.

Ex-mayor Sepi Shyne doesn’t have a chance in this primary election for Schiff’s seat in Congress.$61,349.39 is all she has left to campaign with.

I think that all the nonsense she did while being mayor of West Hollywood was not helpful and made her a pariah for the voters in the city.Word got around and possible financial supporters stayed away from her.

If she does not finish in top two for Congressional run off, West Hollywood will find her on the Council ballot in November.

Re Sepi Shyne:
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me! She doesn’t belong in Congress and she doesn’t belong on our city council. And… judging from her apparent lack of interest during the last few CC meetings, it looks like she’s already checked out anyway!

Hey literally has no chance of winning this seat. But go ahead and waste your energy and money supporting this transphobic carpet-bagging individual.

He knows he can’t win and is using this run for a talking head media career on Fox/Breitbart/Steve Bannon’s podcast etc

Im looking forward to hearing the allegations of fraud from him and his (less than healthy looking) husband.

Alex is a homophobic self hating candidate way out of his league. He and his husband are behind the lies and hate that have infected Glendale over the past few years. He doesn’t belong in America, let alone in Congress.

All true words! Also, filing as an independent and then switching to Republican just a few weeks later is really deceitful. This man is over 40- what changed his ideals in that short period of time? What a clown show.
