WeHo honors its public safety agencies

The City of West Hollywood on Wednesday honored its sheriffs, firefighters and security ambassadors with a luncheon and awards ceremony at West Hollywood Library, the first held since before the covid pandemic.

Teams from each department enjoyed a luncheon in the driveway of the library as rain poured Wednesday afternoon.

Vice Mayor Chelsea Lee Byers and Councilmembers Lauren Meister and John Heilman were on hand to welcome the officers. Members of the city’s Public Safety Commission, including Chairman Tod Hallman and Commissioners George Nickle, Bill Harrison, Adam Eramian and Brandon Blau, presented awards to individuals from L.A.S.D., the L.A. County Fire Department and Block by Block for their unique contributions to the realm of public safety in West Hollywood.

If I were a Deputy and Byers offered me a meal I would definitely tell her to taste it first.

Whatever they make it can’t be enough. I can’t imagine the horrible people they have to interact with in this twisted town.

Wow, Weho bureaucrats honored our Public Safety heroes by serving them lunch in the cold and rain. Well, I guess that’s appropriate since Byers and the majority have of the Public Safety are trying to defund them again. The simple fact that the city didn’t care enough to move the luncheon inside speaks volumes.

The luncheon was outside of the council chambers in the covered area. None of the tables were not exposed to the rain.

I understand that. It was raining (hard) and cold for sitting in place as is the tradition when having lunch, 60 degrees. Weho has a 3-story building in that Library/park complex with large hall ways and meeting rooms, but they held it in the outside in the elements is b/s.

Sad and purposefully divisive comment. Shame white men and insult all of them without knowing the individual receiving these awards or their service records. Stereotyping is unfair to everyone and yes, even white men.
