Deputy district attorneys endorse Nathan Hochman for top job

The Association of Deputy District Attorneys (ADDA) has endorsed Nathan Hochman, a previous Assistant Attorney General, in his bid for the role of district attorney over incumbent George Gascón.

“Nathan Hochman stands out as the preferred choice for advancing a pro-labor agenda and for promoting a positive, open, and cooperative engagement with both the ADDA and its members,” the organization said. “We value his dedication to recognizing the efforts of our prosecutors and are eager to cultivate a beneficial relationship that serves both our members and the public effectively.”

Hochman and Gascón will compete in a runoff election in November.

Hochman, who also served as the president of the Los Angeles City Ethics Commission, shared his gratitude for the endorsement. “Receiving the ADDA’s endorsement, especially against George Gascón, who has consistently undermined their rights, retaliated against those challenging his controversial policies favoring criminals, and hindered prosecutors from adequately representing victims, fills me with immense pride. Upon election, I pledge to champion the cause of our County’s prosecutors, mend our office’s ties with the police force, enhance public safety, and ensure that criminals face the repercussions of their deeds.”

The ADDA also released a statement detailing the immediate and controversial policy changes Gascón implemented upon taking office in 2020. These changes restricted the prosecutorial discretion in sentencing, eliminated many sentence enhancements, and barred deputy district attorneys from participating in parole hearings for life-sentenced murderers. These policies, criticized and challenged by the deputy district attorneys, resulted in disciplinary actions against them and led to costly lawsuits against Los Angeles County. Following the public outrage and a surge in crime rates, a campaign to recall Gascón was launched, receiving overwhelming support from prosecutors.

Nathan Hochman’s idea of “advancing a pro-labor agenda” is sticking up for racist blue-collar white males by making sure their violent hate crimes never go from a petty misdemeanor to a felony. For Nonwhites he wants any possible opportunity to seek the death penalty and prosecute their children as adults, exorbitant 💲cash bail even for petty misdemeanors to enrich his bail bond business friends and, enhancements triggering stiffer sentences if you fit his definition of a gang member or terrorist to criminalize political opposition❗

Blue collar white hate crime? Is this some epidemic we’ve never heard of? Because all I see are violent non white recidivists causing most of the mayhem in our cities. That’s not racism…that’s statistics.

It should be noted that Nathan Hochman was the Republican Party’s candidate for California attorney general in 2022.

It should be noted that George Gascon was registered as a Republican until 2011 when he decided to run for San Francisco District Attorney.

And Oskar Schindler was a one time member of the Nazi party who later acted on his conscience on behalf of humanity. Now we see George Gascón a former republican and police officer showing the same humanity & courage in denouncing and actively opposing policies of systemic racism & oppression in the criminal justice establishment. This is in stark contrast to his opponents who seek to further scapegoat oppressed minorities with expanded police powers.

I guess you’ll support him until you’re the victim of a violent crime and your attackers are just let out and you feel totally helpless, and that there is no justice.

That routinely happened before Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón👑 arrived when the perpetrators of violent hate crimes were law enforcement🐷 and, now we have some justice.👏🏽

Sorry. Be a democrat. But this situation requires a Republican. Otherwise this city, and LA, is a goner.

The republicans have done such a wonderful job ruining the rest of the country you could move there at a fraction of the cost of living here and, you won’t be missed❗

Hochman is the ideal candidate, he’s not a ‘Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing’, while he is an independent, he is discerning, fair, yet uncompromising of law breaking, crime & his prosecutorial measures. I have had the opportunity of meeting him a few times ‘ passes my litmus test, please tell your friends & neighbors to consider extending their vote in this crucial decision.

He’s got my vote. He has a good record and looks like a politician and not a “personality politician,” which means, hopefully, he has everyone’s best interests and safety at heart.

I voted for Nathan Hochman in the primary and I will vote for him in the general election as well! I think now that the others are out of running, he will have enough votes to win!

Same here. This election for us is more important than the presidential election or any senate or Congressional election. This election is for our very survival.

Now what we really need is someone like the Great former San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin, that would keep the comment sections going full throttle for good time❗
