Helicopters circled the area for hours starting around 10:30 a.m.  The confrontation with the suspect culminated in a prolonged standoff, eventually ending when the individual was apprehended and handed over to medical personnel around 2:15 p.m.. The suspect was subsequently taken to a hospital.

By 3 p.m., the area was cleared and reopened for pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
