UPDATE: Wolfgang Puck’s Ospero restaurant inside The Pendry has followed The Britely social club in ending operations within the luxury hotel on WeHo’s Sunset Strip.

Combined Properties announced Thursday it was shuttering The Britely, the social club inside the Pendry on Sunset Boulevard.

The hotel said it’s planning to use the space for something different, and that members will have access to the hotel’s pool and gym through the end of the month.

The club cost $2,800 for an annual membership.

The Britely was all about looking cool but there was no way to keep it going. The managers were snooty and awful. The Pendry has no idea how to run itself. Merois is the only good part of the whole place.

Merois rooftop is still going strong. There’s likely just not enough residents/guests in the area to sustain the lower level casual eateries. And, parking is always a pain.

Social clubs are falling out of fashion. But like weho weed shops, there are too many.

The day the Britney and Ospero closes — is the same day when Mayor Erickson announces his run for re-election. About a 100 people lost their jobs; and about 2000 members will no longer visit West Hollywood who enjoy culture. The weho Squard (Byers, Erickson, Seephi) want to turn this once vibrant City into a City of Homelessness and lawlessness. West Hollywood residents, vote these idiots out of office. They are… Read more »

I understand that many have issues with these social clubs. They’ve really grown on me. They have a very personal touch and people are far better behaved than out in the public. $2,800/yr is only like $235/mo, which isn’t too bad in the grand scheme of things. They’re also not nearly as exclusive as they want you to believe. Unless your socials are full of insanely objectionable behavior, you bathe regularly, & are willing to dress appropriately; they will almost always let you in. That is, unless there’s a secret cabal of people who know more about me than I… Read more »

I don’t have a problem with it as it keeps them away from the rest of us 99%’ers

Private member clubs are doomed. Businesses that rely solely on exclusive memberships as their primary revenue stream can’t scale and grow.
