New details have surfaced about the nightlife venue that’s set to open in the former 1Oak Los Angeles at 9039 Sunset Boulevard, near the Sunset/Doheny intersection and across the street from the Edition hotel.
A listing on Craigslist seeking bussers and “table assistants” was published Wednesday by the h.wood Group, who announced in November 2022 that they would be turning the place into the “ultimate nightlife experience.”
The listing reveals that the renovated space will be called Keys Nightclub, likely an homage to the famous Key Club, one of the venue’s past incarnations. “Keys Nightclub will be located on Sunset Blvd in the old 1Oak space and is set to open late Spring 2024,” the listing reads “It will be a massive full-scale nightclub featuring celebrity DJs and performances.”
The evolution of clubs and concert halls at this location, which was first established in the mid-1920s, occupies a crucial place in the history of the Sunset Strip, and was an epicenter of pop and rock music waves throughout the 1960s and ’70s.
Great news and more jobs jobs jobs!
Good news.
When that spot was Gazzarri’s back when Van Halen was playing there, there were no gun shots. Later, Billboard Live was fun too. But 1OAK had some issues with guns. I hope this will be closer to what Gazzarri’s was, a well-respected rock club that championed local talent.
Exactly… talent…not noise……
