Councilmember Lauren Meister’s father, Marty Meister, passed away early Monday morning.
“He loved his family more than anything, his wife, two daughters, his “adopted” sons – Michael Willens and Richard Flash, and especially his furry grandchildren,” the councilmember wrote on Facebook.
In lieu of flowers, she asks for support for animal rescues.
May his memory be a blessing. Always a big smile for everyone and such a loving and tight knit family he and Jackie had–including the four footed ones. He will be greatly missed.
My deepest condolences to the Meister family. Marty was such a kind and wonderful person. Always outnumbered in his family of three strong women, Marty seemed to find his greatest pleasure in being a proud, loving and supportive husband and father. And, boy, did he love his furry grandkids. Rest in peace, Marty.
To all of the Meisters.
And to Lauren and Debbie – I am sorry for the loss of your father.

Heartfelt condolences to the Meister family. I don’t know any man who could have been as proud of his daughters than Marty. And it’s a stretch to find any family as tight as the Meister’s. I am sure it’s Marty Meister that led by example teaching Council member Meister honesty, ethics, and community service. Marty always had a smile and kind word. He lived one hearty life!

For years Marty and my friend Larry Schenk, were part of a senior coffee clutch. I knew him as a fine gentleman and devoted dad to Debbie and Lauren.
