Shyne kicks Zekiah Wright off Rent Stabilization

Councilmember Sepi Shyne has removed another one of her direct appointees.  On tuesday morning Zekiah Wright received their notice via email that they are being removed from the Rent Stabilization Commission effective immediately.

Wright, who was rumored to be a leading contender in this year’s WeHo City Council race has told WEHOonline that they will no longer be a candidate. An independent poll of West Hollywood voters to be released later this week showed Wright with 13.1% of the overall vote.

In the 2022 campaign for West Hollywood City Council Zekiah Wright finished fourth, just 13 votes shy of John Heilman in their first run for a WeHo Council seat.

The removal of Wright is the second high-profile commissioner to be removed in the last month. Shyne dismissed NiK Kacy from the LGBTQ+ Commission in mid-May on the first day of Equality Fashion Week.

Just two weeks ago, NiK Kacy asked the LGBTQ+ Commission to give protections to appointed officials. WEHOonline reported on it here.

The laws of every state are legal statutes that protect against exactly her actions. Sepi should have been sanctioned and suspended long long ago. Every attorney in our group to others know there is deep public corruption of the City Attorney office and all oversight direct Delegates including silence of other leaders. No one is allowed personal power as a public and municipal elected leader. Tax payers are the leaders to elect one into office and the moment their actions reflect Trump, they need to never step foot into elections again. Sepi will not have it easy after the consistent… Read more »

Ah, Sepi Shyne—what a character! Every move she makes seems more about her own agenda than our community’s needs. It’s like watching a schlemiel in action, tripping over her ambitions while dragging the city along. Honestly, is genuine public service too much to ask?

Every decision Sepi makes seems to be worse than the last. It’s clear she is not acting in the best interest of the community, but rather her own personal agenda.

It will be interesting if Shyne appoints Danny Hang as Zekiah’s replacement on the Commission.

Danny is already Sepi’s appointee on the business licensing commission.

Yes, he voted at a recent revocation hearing to protect Med Men even though they failed to pay their sales tax

The one thing everyone seems to agree on in the city is how horrible Sepi is. Try to trust me, Lindsey Horvath did lots more long term damage to the city than Sepi ever could.

While I am glad to see Wright’s reliance on identity politics off the ballot, they did not deserve the disrespect occasioned by Sepi Shyne’s ongoing vindictive and retaliatory behavior. I suspect that there’s a lot of political maneuvering, game playing, and backstabbing happening in the background and I have little doubt that the arrows point to Stonewall Democratic Club and Lindsey Horvath as the engineers. Our once-fair hamlet has been hijacked by toxicity that is often brewed by outsiders.

Can’t somebody just turn on the fire sprinklers at council chambers and watch Sepi Shyne melt?

There are no limits to Sepis disgraceful conduct, but certainly not upset in anyway to see this candidate drop out.
