Hallman ends term as chair of Public Safety Commission

Tod Hallman ended his term as chairman of the Public Safety Commission in West Hollywood on Monday night, as he and his colleagues chose Adam Eramian as their new leader.

“I just would like to say, uh, this has been an interesting journey for me,” Hallman said. “I didn’t seek out to be on the Public Safety Commission. Then newly elected Councilmember John Erickson asked me to apply; he appointed me. I never wanted to be chair. I just wanted to be the best commissioner that I could be. It’s come around twice. The first time I abstained because I was terrified. I hadn’t been a commissioner very long and I didn’t feel that I was qualified enough to do the position. The second time when it did come up, I begrudgingly said all right. And so here we are Two years later. And I had to serve for two terms because I’m on a commission where coincidentally everyone just abandoned ship at the same time, so it was a newly appointed commission. So by our bylaws, you have to be a commissioner for six months. So here I am. I hope I did a great job. ”

Hallman himself nominated Eramian to succeed him, and Eramian won the votes of all but Commissioners Brandon Blau and Stephen Post, who wanted Commissioner Bill Harrison in the position. Harrison was ultimately selected as Vice Chairman.

Lived I’m my neighborhood. Had no idea who he was. Thought he was a Lesbian. Most obnoxious saddest Karen on our block. Always putting up election signs for fascists for city council. Tells everyone where to park. Now it all makes sense.

He definitely tried his hardest and I believe is filled with good intentions, but too easily influenced and inexperienced. Guess you can’t knock someone who did and gave their best and is ultimately a far cry from past and present members.

While Tod lived to repent his vote to cut ten deputies from the Sheriff’s Department, he has a long history of contribution to the City. In particular our Eastside Neighborhood Watch was pretty ineffective; Tod took over and totally revitalized the organization, cultivated a great relationship with our organization and the Sheriff’s Department and we became one of the largest and most effective neighborhood groups in the City. Tod’s dedication to our neighborhoods made us safer. As Chair Tod has served with grace and impartiality with very little ego invested in that role. I am sorry that your don’t share… Read more »

thank you, steve, for your kind words. it’s so disheartening to scroll down remarks which just seem bitchy. i don’t know Tod but he was willing to serve his community with an open heart and mind. i like that he changed his mind about defunding the sheriffs division.
