West Hollywood will launch a new enterprise permitting and licensing management system in August 2024. This software aims to improve the city’s permitting, planning, regulatory licensing, and code enforcement processes.

The new system will replace multiple isolated software platforms, streamlining operations and enhancing service delivery for residents, businesses, vendors, and other stakeholders involved in the city’s permitting processes.

Improvements will cover areas including Building & Safety Permitting, Plan Check Review and Inspection Services, Current Planning and Historic Preservation, Long-Range Planning, Engineering, Neighborhood and Business Safety Code Enforcement, Business Licensing/Permitting, Revenue, Film Permitting, Special Event permitting, and more.

From Wednesday, August 14, 2024, to Monday, August 19, 2024, certain services will be temporarily offline to accommodate the upgrade, impacting:

– **Planning and Building & Safety**: At West Hollywood City Hall, counters will provide limited services but will not accept new applications or issue permits. Applications submitted by email on or after Friday, August 9, 2024, may be delayed until after the system launch on Monday, August 19, 2024.

– **Neighborhood and Business Safety, Code Enforcement, Business Licensing/Permitting**: At West Hollywood City Hall, counters will remain operational but will not process applications or issue permits, including Regulatory Business Licenses, Extended Hours Permits, Special Events Permits, and Encroachment Permits.

All applications and permitting services are expected to resume on Monday, August 19, 2024, at 10 a.m. with the new system’s launch.

City staff will be available to address questions and concerns from community members before, during, and after the upgrade. For inquiries, call West Hollywood City Hall at (323) 848-6400.

The new system, developed with Tyler Technologies, is the result of an extensive evaluation process. It will consolidate multiple systems, allowing city divisions to share information more efficiently. An online portal will serve as a central communication hub between the public and city staff, facilitating application submissions, permit/license issuance, and real-time progress tracking.

Features of the new permitting system include:

– Customer portals to track application and project submissions
– Fully electronic plan submissions and reviews
– Guided assistance for applicants through the application process
– Integration with the Los Angeles County Assessor’s Office for updated parcel information
– Mobile responsive interface for city staff in the field
– Seamless payment options within the platform

My architect son stopped all of his WEHO projects a few years ago because he said that dealing with our city hall was worse than dealing with the city of LA permitting system. Hope new system truly brings fixes.
