Andy’s, the new West Hollywood live music venue by Anderson .Paak and the Houston Brothers, is set to open Sept. 25, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
.Paak’s establishment, located in the former Doheny Room at 9077 Santa Monica Blvd., will be a speakeasy-style throwback focusing on R&B and jazz with an entrance hidden behind an inconspicuous magazine stand.
.Paak is a Grammy winning musician who often performs with Bruno Mars as part of the duo Silk Sonic. The Houston Brothers are are known for nightlife ventures such as La Descarga, Break Room 86 and Level 8.
“It’s going to be a little like you’re in my home studio, or mom’s basement,” .Paak told the Reporter. “But with bomb-ass food and a top-notch sound system for the stage.”
Sounds utterly irresistible. How come we’re just hearing about this now?
Yeah, I know it’s secret…
I wish them luck. But I believe The Doheny Room failed because of location. Sure, the venerable Trubador has been next door for decades, but there’s little to draw customers way down to, well, Doheny.
The Houston Brothers have a pretty good track record. Lot of efforts, majority of them succeed.
Bring back Four Star Saloon, the original Revolver, and Rage. Otherwise, I’m stayin’ in.
I imagine you’re watching movies on a VCR and playing cassette tapes on your hi fidelity stereo in there too. And they say people like you live in a bubble. Nonsense!
