Barney’s Beanery valet improving as attacker still on the loose

The valet at Barney’s Beanery who was hospitalized after a violent assault outside the restaurant over the weekend in West Hollywood is showing signs of improvement, but his assailant remains at large.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is asking the public for help, distributing photos in an effort to identify the suspect involved in the Saturday night attack on Efrain “Frankie” Zarazua, along with the battery of two additional victims.

Surveillance footage captured the shirtless suspect wearing a white baseball cap and gray sweatpants. The suspect punched Zarazua, knocking him to the ground, and then repeatedly kicked him in the head and upper body, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

“His condition is improving, which is miraculous given how severe the attack was,” A.J. Sacher, Barney’s Beanery’s director of operations, told the L.A. Times. ”

Sacher said that the other two victims were a Barney’s Beanery cook waiting at a nearby bus stop and a passerby near the Soho House on Holloway Drive. Zarazua reportedly heard the commotion from the initial two assaults, ran to investigate and was then pursued into the parking lot, where he was brutally attacked.

The suspect has been linked to five other assaults.

I am so relieved that the victim has not become a casualty or Another statistic and a victim that was killed by senseless crime! These deranged people can have no identity, no known whereabouts, no way to be tracked down or traced and at random can show up to our city and can attack and kill people at their will! They evade capture and arrest and can blend in with so many other homeless and unhoused people and furthermore can leave unnoticed from our city limits as quick as they came and caused violence. The only reassuring thing is there… Read more »

with all these sincere concerns expressed, where was ANYONE interceding on this brutal assault? Nope. No one, apparently

No worries. expiate your guilt with your ‘thoughts and prayers’ for his recovery.

In a casual conversation with a neighbor the election came up and I asked how much he knew about the candidates in WeHo. He said, “Nothing really, but I have heard a lot about this guy Hang so I guess I’ll vote for him.”
My blood went cold!
This is how people like Shyne, Byers, and Erickson get elected. They do nothing more than get their names out there!

The attacker is exactly the kind of person the likes of Danny Hang would welcome to the Holloway Motel free out of towner giveaway housing. Truth be told, all of the others aren’t much better. Stop acting fake surprised when things turn even worse.

Unfortunately, I agree. From what I see happening across town, East Hollywood problems are moving west.

You have no proof to back up such a stupid accusation

It’s hard to believe that most Wehoians vote in politicians locally and federally who actually go out of their way to protect this behavior. smh

They totally do. Check out the WeHo Nextdoor app; the people on there are proudly announcing this insanity as if it’s a badge of honor to vote for the most ass backwards politician because they check a box or have green hair and a nose ring. It’s sad.

So, if you’re walking down the street and see that–a deranged, half-dressed loon–and decide to cross the street because of common sense, what do you think the first thing is that bleeding hearts would say? They’d accuse you of being “biased.”

Fortunately it sounds like people’s prayers are being answered. We can only hope for the best for Frankie.

I passed Barney’s yesterday morning and saw 3 ambassadors and 2 lasd standing around watching. Thanks for showing up after the fact. Tell me again why lasd isn’t on regular foot patrol in Weho? It’s not like city hall can’t find the money with all that grift and misappropriation of funds, if they were so inclined to get off their plump derriere and perhaps actually do something for our common. Such a stupid no brainer idiots. WEHO: VOTE!
