Naked, screaming homeless people irk neighbors on La Jolla

Residents of La Jolla Avenue in West Hollywood are pleading for help as homeless people have overtaken a nearby parking lot behind Santa Monica Boulevard storefronts.

Despite her attempts in seeking their assistance, Mary Miller says City Council has been “unresponsive” in addressing encampments that have sprung up in the alleyway near her residence. Disturbing screams at all hours of the night have left her and her neighbors on edge and fearing for their safety.

“We’ve called the sheriff over and over regarding the screams,” Miller said. “It’s every night.”

Miller shared photos of a completely nude man strolling about in what she describes as a “fast sex alley.” One neighbor awoke to find a naked woman on her front lawn. Miller hopes the city will close the lot, fence in the garbage bins and install a police protection detail.

“How much do you think we can endure?” she asks.

I blame erickson shyne and byers. A vote for hang would be more of the same. These people are ruining WeHo and are the blame for many of the empty store fronts. No on erickson and hang and No on 33.

Lol, don’t shut down Vaseline alley, Karen! Institutionalize the mentally insane, destroy the meth dealers, and dismantle the tents. I have a photo of that insane black guy on all fours, butt naked in the Vaseline alley parking lot just waiting for somebody, anybody. GREAT photo. It’s completely disgusting and needs to change. Discreet furtive sex in cars is one thing, but public nudity and insanity is another thing entirely.

WeHo should secede and rejoin L.A. County. The city is a failure and a joke! That’s why I abandoned WeHo years ago after living there since the ’80s.

You are ignorant and misinformed… I pledge a 10K donation to the charity of your choice if you can debunk any of the points below… Trump has stated numerous times he has nothing to do with Project 2025…  Trump is the only president to enter office supporting Gay marriage  Trump appointed the first Gay cabinet member Richard Grenell Trump appointed 4 openly Gay ambassadors  Trump appointed 6 openly Gay judges  Trump hosted a Gay wedding at Mar-A-Lago this summer Trump addressed the UN to decriminalize Gay in every country Trump provided free Prep for anyone who either had no insurance… Read more »

Really ❓ Naked people all over the place, naked people waking up on their front lawn, “fast sex alley” and “it’s every night ❓ ” Hell, I’m actively cruising out looking for this kind of attention and would be happy if it happens just “one night.” In-spite of my best efforts for quite some time now, I’m ending up with “NO sex alley ❗ ” 😡 If anyone has a valid reason to be complaining, how is it NOT me ❓

Where’s the billions spent the last few years been going?

Alan Strasburg

The billions have been spent on programs with cute sounding names that politicians spout in their ads but that have very little impact on the problem.

The programs are slush funds for allies of the democrat party – its a patronage system. Solving homelessness would be a disaster for the NGO complex. A problem solved is a problem that can’t be monetized. (See, The War on Drugs, or The War on Terror, for complimentary examples).

Really ❓ The War on Drugs and the War on Terror were both right-wing republican policies. Mind you that the democrats are NOT a Left Opposition party but, more of a weak mildly liberal party that capitulates to reactionary policy when it’s established. If homelessness were solved (costing less that many individual military projects) there would be plenty of work for NGOs in Public Healthcare and Education.

Why NOT show some courage, honesty and, integrity by attacking the military & law enforcement 🐷 programs that literally cost 💲 Trillions and; are at the very root of our problems

Really frustrating when city officials keep saying homelessness/transient numbers are down. I see at least 10-15 NEW people each day! They are all bat sh!t crazy yelling at the top off their lungs, carrying weapons, swinging their fists, following people, walking the streets naked, etc. its getting really sad 🙁

I’m starting to think the facility next to CVS is going to do more harm than good for the city.

So where are the City’s mental heath outreach teams??? This really calls into question the City’s actual ability to deal with homeless issues. We have what appears to be a very comprehensive (and expensive) set of programs but we are not seeing much by way of results. These sorts of incidents are simply not tolerable.

These sorts of incidents” happened under the NEVER defunded Sheriff’s Department, in fact its budget has increased consistently throughout the 21st century ❗ Reducing prison population has already saved the state 💲 Billions and mental health treatment, addiction rehabilitation, and diversion programs have been proven to prevent recidivism.

It’s disgusting especially if you pay taxes! It’s unacceptable & it’s out of control! Vote Nathan Hockman not Gascon! Gascon doesn’t lock anyone up & the police (I’ve spoken to many) say their hands are tied. You know the “security ambassadors” don’t do much either. They just tell people not to be I front of businesses. I spoke to them too & they said the homeless come here bc West Hollywood takes care of them!! Are those are tax dollars going to good use? No. I had a guy smoking crack in front of my business, Another was masturbating. Another… Read more »

These unhoused folk are probably cleaner and carrying less communicable disease.

Strangely enough you may be very right about this one on ‘communicable disease‘ and the unhoused being less of a threat given that the current antivaxx cult seems to be more of a fad of the upper middle class that majored in fields that required very little if any University level Hard Science Education but, resulted in very well paying careers.

Do you wonder why we never had to deal with troublesome nekkid people before now in WeHo? Because it WASN’T PERMITTED! The offenders were jailed or escorted away and they faced consequences that made sure they and their nekkid testicles were never again in our view. Start arresting the criminals and clean up WeHo.
