The City of West Hollywood is postponing its 2025 Mayoral Reorganization & Installation Ceremony and City Council meeting, which was scheduled for Monday, January 13, 2025 and will be rescheduled to the upcoming West Hollywood City Council meeting on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

The City is also postponing the public opening of the Ice Rink at West Hollywood Park to a later date.

According to its website, The City of West Hollywood and its public safety partners are continuing to respond to Local wildfire conditions, which are having devastating impacts in nearby communities, and causing a regional air quality alert and red flag warning. In West Hollywood, there are no reports of major fires or other incidents. The City is continuing to deploy field staff to assess conditions in the community.

As a preventative measure, LA County Fire and Southern California Edison (SCE) are considering public safety power shutoffs in LA County due to the Red Flag Warning. At this time, there is no indication there will be power shutoffs in West Hollywood, but the community is urged to be prepared. To stay informed, visit www.sce.com/outage-center/outage-information/psps.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AQMD) has extended a Windblown Dust Advisory due to strong Santa Ana winds gusting to 30 to 70 mph through the afternoon on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. To view current air quality in your neighborhood, download the South Coast AQMD app or visit www.aqmd.gov/AQImap.

The National Weather Service (NWS) advises that particle pollution can get deep into the lungs and cause serious health problems, such as heart attacks, strokes, asthma attacks, and difficulty breathing. Everyone can be affected, but people with lung or heart disease, older adults, people who are pregnant, children, and those who spend a lot of time outdoors are at greater risk. Wearing a mask outdoors, limiting time outside, and keeping windows closed are all recommendations that can help protect your health.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has declared a local health emergency and issued a Public Health Officer Order prohibiting the use of power air blowers, including leaf blowers, to reduce health risks. Do not use leaf blowers to clean up as it will cause further contamination and health concerns.

Community members are urged to continue to be vigilant about fire safety. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued Red Flag Warnings and High Wind Warnings throughout the area. In a rare warning, the National Weather Service has also advised that this is a Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS). Visit the NWS Los Angeles website for details: www.weather.gov/lox.

You’re calling a rescheduling due to one of the worst natural disasters in this countries history “NOT A PEACEFUL TRANSITION OF POWER”? Hi Fox News. Terrible reporting. So irresponsible.

Does this mean I can’t take my dog ice skating? He was so excited to see what a $550,000 temporary ice rink looks like.

LMAO. But I’m for anything that delays idiot Byers from being Mayor; although her predecessor is just as pathetic.
