
West Hollywood resident Brett Kester has passed away. The long term resident of West Hollywood is a real estate agent with Sotheby’s. Kester had been ill and posted on his Facebook account this past New Years Eve from his hospital bed at Cedars-Sinai, “Not doing so good tonite…bit I’m hangin in there…”
Kester was born in Madrid, Spain and moved to Los Angeles while in his teens, attending Woodrow Wilson High School in Los Angeles. He studied business at Santa Monica College and received his Bachelors in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. He went on to become a personal trainer and spinning instructor at Equinox while also working at Sotheby’s real estate for the past 25 years.
Bret participated in the 545 mile AIDS ride to raise for money for the LA Center and SF Center. Friends described him as a big community and handsome man. Brett has been battling cancer for the past 5 years

Met Brett in the 80’s. We did that AIDS ride mentioned in the article the same year. Over the years we have been in touch. He was a strong and good man and will be missed again and again. Godspeed.
Very sad. I’d met him quite a few times over the years, and he was always super-nice. I feel terrible hearing this news, but thank you for acknowledging him and his fight. He was a wonderful person, always smiling and in an uplifting mood. 🙏
