The City of West Hollywood has announced the start of its 2025 season of Drag Story Hour, beginning Saturday, February 8, 2025.

This beloved program, a collaboration between the City of West Hollywood and the West Hollywood Library, invites children of all ages and their families to experience the magic of storytelling through the art of drag. Drag Story Hour provides a safe and welcoming space to celebrate diversity, inclusion, and self-expression.

Originally created in 2015 by Michelle Tea and RADAR Productions in San Francisco, Drag Story Hour debuted in West Hollywood in 2017, supported by the city’s Arts Division. Produced by Drag Arts Lab and Pickle the Drag Queen—West Hollywood’s first Drag Laureate and the second Drag Laureate in the U.S.—the series has become a vibrant part of the city’s cultural offerings.

The 2025 season will open with a performance by drag artist Miss Barbie-Q on Saturday, February 8, at 11 a.m. in the West Hollywood Library Community Meeting Room, located at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard. Admission is free, and no RSVP is required.

Sickening use of public funds. I hope Trump is able to put a stop to this before any more children are harmed.

If you’re going to ask any questions, how about asking, “why a grown man, dressed in drag, has the desire to read children’s books to little kids.” I haven’t heard a good answer to that yet. If you want to get kids, excited about reading, bring in an author. Drag has always been a form of adult entertainment. There is no good reason why children should be brought into it. Leave them alone.

They always want to involve kids in these events. You never hear about drag queens wanting to read to seniors.

I agree. It’s shameful the way government entities are forcing adult entertainment on vulnerable children.
