An employee of Rocco’s WeHo was assaulted as he left work this past Saturday night. He was stuck on the head while on the crosswalk as he left Rocco’s at the close of his saturday night shift. The subject and a co-worker were heading north across Santa Monica Blvd. at approximately 2:30 am. early Sunday morning.
The exclusive video was obtained by a former employee of the BlockParty and is being published in the public’s best interest and without the consent of Rocco’s. Eyewitness accounts describe a chaotic scene on Santa Monica Blvd. where Rocco’s security then ran toward the victim and assailant attack to the offender until both the sheriff and ambulance arrived.
The victim was leaving work with his co-worker. Workers at Rocco’s use the employee exit after the front doors are locked at the end of the night. The victim noticed a rowdy crowd near the exit door and asked Rocco’s security to help them exit. After Rocco’s security told the staff members they were clear to go the offender went after the male victim as seen in the above video. The victim of the attack comfirned the account and added that they had not had or any interaction with the offender.during the work shift.
The victim received ten stitches and the offender was arrested on felony charges. It appears the offender was released the next day without bail. This is the second time this Rocco’s employee had been assaulted. Two years ago he had been assaulted by somebody breaking into Rocco’s.
The victim told WEHOonline that he is doing better but still bruised. The district attorney is expected to filed felony charges against the assailant on Monday. “I’m familiar with these situations (having worked in weho nightlife for a number of years) because its happened to me often but this time is different because I had ten stitches and I had reached out to security and had thought I this was covered. There was no reason to come at me”. Employees and patrons within West Hollywood’s nightlife district have faced a series of late night attacks as the bars close.
Rumors of a pending sale of Rocco’s could not be confirmed.
Wow so glad Rob is ok. He is the only one who doesn’t charge me for drinks.
Thank god he is ok. The roccos weho security who captured the attacker is a hero. Prosecute to full extent. No mercy.
Weho is ghetto trash now. Bars need to start charging a ten dollar cover with a free drink ticket to keep these people OUT.
Rocco’s is awful and 100% responsible for not protecting you.
Tto the few that correctly point out the lack of security embassador being proactive or even stepping in: their newest mission has long shifted from being proactive or being “stationed” in strategical areas to discourage crime: they nowadays are assigned by our head security officer to prevent cruising and gay activities; aligning with a subtle but steady increase of anti LGBTQ activities. Chat with the ambassador next time you have a chance; they lack first emergency training and have little understanding of our west Hollywood vibe and mission statement. There are good peeps amongst them; but the majority just texts… Read more »
People nowadays feel entitled to commit acts of violence for reasons unknown. Perhaps the assailant had a beef with Rocco’s and decided to take it out on this innocent employee who probably had nothing to do with the original conflict.
The ambassadors dont care anymore..last night one mentally ill person was clearly going off his rocker and instead of stopping to calm him down and keep others on the sidewalk safe they walked right past him and didnt care many of. Us on the sidewalk felt unsafe.
Is it lost on any of us that this happened 100 yards from the Sheriff station ?
An interesting story idea…all of the incidents that happen on or in that intersection to include the park and the alleys just behind the bars on both sides of SMB.
I am not anti Sheriff i just wonder why all of these events keep happening so close.
Why isn’t Block by Block Security Ambassadors not t working late shifts as these bars stay open much later than their hours of operation. Employees could use their escort services to prevent these occurrences
