Hernan Molina, Government Affairs Liason for the City of West Hollywood and President of the WeHoME union representing city hall employees responded to the unauthorized leak and publication of the 2024 Comprehensive Employee Survey.

Official Statement from the West Hollywood Municipal Employees Union (WeHoME) Executive Board

The Executive Board (E-Board) of WeHoME rejects in the strongest terms the unauthorized release and publication of WeHoME’s 2024 Workplace Survey — an internal union document intended to gather insights from our members about their experiences working for the City of West Hollywood. This survey was conducted to identify areas for improvement and ultimately strengthen workplace relations.

As a union, our core mission is to represent, protect, and advocate for our members. Differences in perspectives are natural in any organization, and we believe these matters should be addressed internally through constructive dialogue — not through public discourse that risks creating unnecessary division among employees. Actions like this only serve to distract us from our shared goal: serving the people of West Hollywood with professionalism, integrity, and dedication.

The E-Board remains committed to working collaboratively with the City Council, City Manager, and all employees at City Hall — regardless of union affiliation — to foster a positive, productive workplace and enhance the quality of life for all WeHoans.

Something to keep in mind – the Union only represents approximately 10% of the staff who work at the Weho Parks Department which also includes the Aquatic Center. 90% of the day-to-day staff are hired as Temporary/Part Time – meaning they can only work 950 hours per year at or a little over minimum wage (they claim it is a 1000 hr limit but it is really 950.) The City of West Hollywood is paying hundreds of local residents a far below the cost-of-living wage. It certainly runs counter to the City’s mission statement: https://www.weho.org/city-government/city-manager/capital-projects/strategic-initiatives-archive/strategic-plan/mission-statement-core-values The official, public link shows… Read more »

Why are the residents not entitled to full transparency? – we should know if the people that we are paying are happy with working for the city – OUR city. And if they’re not, we need to fix it. Thrilled that this was released. We now know what we suspected. Now we have to make sure we fix it. May be some heads need to roll.

Well the shared goal of “serving the people of West Hollywood with professionalism, integrity, and dedication” isn’t and hasn’t been realized since before the pandemic. City Hall employees are rude, uninterested, and make DMV workers seem fast and attentive. I wonder what this multi part survey cost tax payers?

This was paid for by the union and not part of the city budget or dollars. Although Molina wears two hats, director of legislative affairs for the city and president of the wehome union. Molina was Duran’s former deputy.
