In celebration of Transgender Day of Visibility, the City of West Hollywood is teaming up with the City of Los Angeles to co-sponsor the TGI2+ Job Fair, an event designed to link job seekers—especially transgender, gender-nonconforming, intersex, and nonbinary individuals—with employers who champion diversity and inclusion. This free job fair will foster networking, personal growth, and career opportunities for attendees.

Scheduled for Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the event will be held at the Los Angeles City College Student Union Building, 855 N. Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles. Admission is free for all Los Angeles County residents, and advance registration is encouraged via Eventbrite at http://bit.ly/tgiJobFair.

The TGI2+ Job Fair promises a welcoming, affirming environment where attendees can be themselves and forge valuable connections. Highlights include:

  • Networking with Inclusive Employers: Meet organizations across industries dedicated to diverse workplaces.
  • Career Workshops: Boost skills with resume and interview sessions from the LACC Career Center.
  • Professional Clothing Closet: Access attire through Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA).
  • Rights Workshop: Learn workplace protections in a “Know Your Rights” session.
  • Support Resources: Tap into free mental health, wellness, and legal aid from Open Space Therapy Collective and the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
  • Free Lunch: Fuel up while connecting.

Co-hosted by the City of Los Angeles Civil Rights Department, the Los Angeles Transgender Advisory Council, and Los Angeles City College, this job fair reflects a shared commitment to economic empowerment and workforce equity. Employers interested in recruiting can contact Carla Ibarra at carla.ibarra@lacity.org by March 25, 2025, and will receive a Gender and Sexuality Inclusivity Training led by Eden Anaï Luna, DEI Consultant and Transgender Advisory Council Chairperson.

The event addresses stark challenges: the 2022 U.S. Transgender Survey shows 34% of transgender and nonbinary people live in poverty—triple the national rate—with unemployment five times higher than average, often due to discrimination. UCLA’s Williams Institute notes over half of transgender and nonbinary Angelenos are jobless, facing instability even when employed.

West Hollywood, a vocal advocate for transgender rights, was among the first cities to establish a Transgender Advisory Board, guiding efforts in education, awareness, and empowerment. The city also offers a Transgender Resource Guide online, detailing legal, health, and social services to support the community across West Hollywood and Greater Los Angeles.
