In West Hollywood, Rate Will Increase from 10.25% to 10.50%
The City of West Hollywood is alerting residents and local businesses to a forthcoming sales tax adjustment set to begin on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. The sales tax rate within the city will shift from 10.25% to 10.50%, reflecting a change enacted across Los Angeles County.
This adjustment stems from Measure A, the Los Angeles County Homelessness Services and Affordable Housing Ordinance, which voters passed in the November 2024 General Election. The measure introduces a countywide sales tax of 0.50% per dollar on taxable goods to fund initiatives such as homeownership support, rental assistance, expanded mental health and addiction services, and efforts to address homelessness. It also aims to assist children, families, veterans, domestic violence survivors, seniors, and disabled individuals facing housing insecurity. Measure A replaces the previous Measure H sales tax, resulting in a net increase of 0.25% to the sales and use tax rate throughout Los Angeles County.
The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration has issued a Special Notice detailing the updated Sales and Use Tax rates effective April 1, 2025. This document is available on their website at https://www.cdtfa.ca.gov/formspubs/L974.pdf and is being distributed to California taxpayers via mail and email.
This sales tax change is distinct from Measure WH, which West Hollywood voters approved in the same November 2024 election. Measure WH does not establish a new sales tax. Instead, it stipulates that if Los Angeles County or a regional authority later imposes a sales tax affecting West Hollywood, 0.25% of the revenue generated within the city will be redirected to West Hollywood to sustain services prioritized by residents.
Look at the trash running this city. Starting with that dreadful John Erickson. Tax for what? Tranny groups? More BS. Restaurants are closing weekly. The Sunset strip looks like a salvage area for billboards. Talk about no class. This used to be boys tag. Now it’s freak City. L
BTWA BS
West Hollywood will have the dubious distinction of the highest sales tax in the US, beating Seattle’s 10.35%. Way to go! SMH
Where is the ACCOUNTABILITY that will show our consumer taxes are going to programs that actually WORK? Or is this just more grift for the grossly overpaid city hall Mean Girls?? Show your work.
We see more evidence frequently that taxpayers are being priced out of Los Angeles County.
Soo glad we voted for more money to the 5 of 100 homeless that refuse to accept help…
As if we don’t already pay enough in taxes
And where does all that money go
our infrastructure is crap, our streets unsafe, the mentally unstable and the addicts are wandering the streets. They take more and more of our hard earned money and our quality of life declines. Wake up. Vote differently.
