With WeHo parade canceled, citizens plan to mark Pride without city’s help

West Hollywood residents will take to the streets Sunday to mark Pride month in the wake of the city’s decision to cancel the annual parade and festival.

A Facebook event hosted by Troy Masters, Nik Kacy and Marna Deitch is now live, inviting people to join a walk down Santa Monica Blvd. from Crescent Heights to Robertson Blvd.

“We can’t let 2021 go by without a Pride event in the streets of LA while the rest of the nation marches on,” the event summary says. “It’s time to get together, organically. Just show up and let’s walk.”

The invitation highlights the fact that there will be no floats or speeches, and that the event is a grassroots project.

“This is NOT an official event,” it reads. “It’s not affiliated with the City of West Hollywood or sanctioned in anyway.”

The walk is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Sunday. RSVP on the Facebook event page. At this time the streets will still be open for traffic and the Council has made no preparations or budgeting for public safety.

The fact that you need to celebrate and tell everyone what your sexual preference is just goes to show that this is a mental illness problem. Nobody cares bruh, just be you and be happy. If you need to get others to accept your lifestyle you will never be happy. You will never be happy anyways because you are defying the laws of nature.

Disgusting comment you should be ashamed. It’s not about getting others to accept the “lifestyle”. Go read a damn book Ricardo and maybe try to educate yourself before pathologizing what you clearly don’t understand.

I believe the mental illness diagnosis was eliminated from psychiatrics in the 1970’s. I don’t recall reading any laws of nature recently but please direct me. Was it Newton? He was such a hunk.

It’s also in our nature to club you over the head for talking like that Ricardo. See, you should be glad we defy the laws of nature, you probably like your head the way it is.

Everyone, just ignore him. He’s just trying to stir the pot. He’s a troll. It would be the equivalent of me going to a conservative web site and commenting, just to pick a fight.

This is not a “lifestyle.” I was born this way. I recall my first attraction to a man. I was about four or five. I have never been romantically interested in a female and certainly never had sex with a woman. I’m as gay as it gets. The laws of nature? Like when we thought the earth was the center of the universe?

Asking for forgiveness in the event of an accident is better than asking for permission. Foresight is in limited supply.

They’re organizing a parade without taking the responsibility for the outcome.
