WEST HOLLYWOOD, June 30, 2021 – The City of West Hollywood is getting the word out that the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued a strong recommendation that everyone, regardless of vaccination status, wears masks indoors in public places as a precautionary measure. This is not a requirement; it is a strong recommendation. According to an LA County Public Health statement issued on Monday, June 28, 2021: “Public Health strongly recommends people wear masks indoors in settings such as grocery or retail stores; theaters and family entertainment centers; and workplaces when you don’t know everyone’s vaccination status. Until we better understand how and to who the Delta variant is spreading, everyone should focus on maximum protection with minimum interruption to routine as all businesses operate without other restrictions, like physical distancing and capacity limits.”
In the week ending June 12, Delta variants comprised of nearly half of all variants sequenced in Los Angeles County. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) noted that Delta variants are now responsible for about one in every five new infections across the country, up from approximately one in every 10 the week before.
“We’ve taken big steps in reopening and getting back to normal,” said City of West Hollywood Mayor Lindsey P. Horvath. “Still, our local Public Health officials urge us to continue to exercise caution and good judgment as physical distancing requirements and capacity limitations have been removed. New recommendations for mask-wearing are part of what can help us all to stay safe and take care of one another as we learn more about new variants. I urge everyone in West Hollywood to get vaccinated, encourage others to do the same, stay informed, and take note of these critical recommendations.”
LA County Public Health issued a revised Health Officer Order, “A Safer Return Together at Work and in the Community,” which took effect on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. It aligns Los Angeles County with guidelines from the State of California. Local Public Health Officials are reminding community members that it is important to get tested for COVID-19 infection for people who develop symptoms, even if fully vaccinated. Testing is also recommended for unvaccinated people who have been in close contact with someone who has a confirmed COVID-19 infection or who has had a potential exposure. COVID-19 testing remains widely available across the county. Residents should first call their healthcare provider for a COVID-19 test. For people who cannot get a test through a healthcare provider, free testing is available; please visit https://covid19.lacounty.gov/testing.
Los Angeles County coordinates a COVID-19 West Hollywood testing site at Plummer Park, located at 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard. The testing site open each week from Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is adjacent to the Community Center in the South Parking Lot. Tests are being administered by Fulgent Genetics. Although walk-ins are welcome, it is strongly encouraged that
those interested in getting a test pre-register for an appointment at la.fulgentgenetics.com. People getting tests should bring ID and confirmation number to the appointment.
Health officials urge all people to get vaccinated. Residents ages 12 and older with internet access are urged to use www.VaccinateLACounty.com to sign up for a vaccination appointment. For people without access to a computer or the Internet, or people with disabilities, an LA County call center is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. to help schedule appointments at (833) 540-0473.

Individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks or more after they have received the second dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or two weeks or more after they have received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
The City of West Hollywood remains in a declared local emergency in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. West Hollywood City Hall and many public City buildings and facilities have been shut to in-person transactions as services were transitioned to a virtual environment to safeguard community health and safety.
