The McDonald’s in the shopping strip on the corner of Crescent Heights and Sunset Blvd. will shut it doors for good on Sunday.
It’s one of the last standing businesses on 8150 Sunset Blvd., which is set to become a Frank Gehry-designed mixed-use complex featuring 203 residential units and approximately 57,300 square feet of retail and restaurant space.
That leaves the restaurant on La Brea and Lexington as the last and only McDonald’s in WeHo.
honestly so upset about this….this was the first drive thru i ever went to as a kid and it’s such a strong memory
Removing temptation is always welcomed!
The entire complex at 8150 Sunset is in the city of Los Angeles. The McDonald’s on La Brea remains the only one in the city of West Hollywood (as it has for some time).
The article is implicitly wrong. This McDonalds is/was never in West Hollywood. The McDonalds at LaBrea just north of Santa Monica Boulevard is in West Hollywood as the article (correctly) states.

I guess they held out until their lease ended, I thoght it was interesting that ir held up a huge devolment selling little burgers.
slow news day??
It is believed that the 8150 SUNSET project is in transition and that the project will be needing to adopt new entitlements. While no work has been evidenced on the approved project, the demo of the Lytton Bank La Conservancy approved historic landmark occurred very rapidly presumably so as to erase any possible complications to new entitlements. Pending efforts to move the building to another location came to a halt.
End of an era! Never ate there but always thought about it when I was on the 2nd floor of crunch staring down at those golden arches.
I thought the way the city boundaries meandered in the area and cut the corner, that this McDonalds was on the LA side..
