Michael Blackson’s ‘Chinese Best Friend’ dies of COVID

Popular comic and WeHo resident regretted not getting vaccinated

Christian Cabrera, who gained notoriety as “Chinese Best Friend,” a sidekick to comedian Michael Blackson, has died, according to family members. He was recently featured on local TV news while hospitalized at Sherman Oaks Hospital, where he expressed his regret at not getting vaccinated.

“I really regret not getting my vaccine, if I can do it all over again I would do it in a heartbeat to save my life,” he said in a text message to his brother. “I’m fighting for my life here and I wish I have gotten vaccinated.”

Michael Blackson posted about Cabrera’s death over the weekend with further information about how he passed away.

“According to the hospital He took his oxygen mask off to go to the bathroom and passed out, they put him on a ventilator,” Blackson wrote. “A few hrs later he’s gone. Unbelievable.”

Cabrera, 40, leaves behind a 3-year-old son. His family is seeking help paying for his funeral. People wishing to donate may do so on his GoFundMe page.

Imagine all the people he made sick or killed by not getting vaxed. Karma is a wonderful thing. It is estimated that for every person who doesn’t get vaxed and is irresponsible with mask wearing and social distancing is responsible for hundreds (and ultimately thousands) of deaths. If they killed that many people by any other means, they would be considered a mass murderer. Don’t get vaxed, spread the virus and then die from it is a perfect ending to a horrible killing spree. It serves those right to die from irresponsibility, ignorance and in most case pure evilness. Not,… Read more »

He didn’t kill anyone you ignorant dolt. YOUR health is nobody else’s responsibility. It’s up to you to protect yourself (by getting vaxxed.)

I swear you fools are just trolling at this point (over a strangers death which makes you incredibly sad). Vaxxed catch and spread Covid too. You get that right?

Imagine being here in 2022 and still thinking the vax status of a stranger has any bearing on your own personal health.

It doesn’t.

Yes, it’s very sad some of the comments here. But you know what’s more sad? The person they are commenting about was a dumb unvaccinated person, who put the health and lives of lots of people at risk, possibly killing a lot of people, due to his uncaring disrespectful stupidity and/or laziness. So now what’s worse: the messengers of facts, or the dumb dead guy doing the potential killing? I’m just glad he can no longer hurt anyone anymore. If you truly love your kid, maybe get vaccinated and wear a mask. Both.

I too am glad this irresponsible sidekick can no longer hurt other people. We need to be truthful. Those who say “it’s so sad he’s dead” forget about how many he may have knowingly or unknowingly infected and possibly killed. He’s no role model. He’s no hero. The world is just a little safer without his spreading disease. I repeat: there are consequences for being dumb.

This is so f*cked up. Splashing this poor guys face online with full knowledge that soulless vultures lick their lips with satisfaction at a strangers death. Getting vaxxed is a personal health choice. It always was. It’s a poor choice, but it’s no different than eating fast food, smoking or getting having sex with a stranger. This idea that getting vaxxed is about public health has long been debunked. No, YOUR vax shot doesn’t stop you killing grandma. It never did, and with omicron it’s even more obvious that’s the case. People with triple shots are catching and spreading Covid.… Read more »

It’s a poor choice” You are truly disgusting for continuing to spread anti-vaxx nonsense.

This man was on his deathbed (taking up an ICU bed) barely able to breathe and finally realized he should have gotten the vaccine. And now his child has to grow up without a father.

Your rhetoric contributed to his death and countless others. Shame on you.

Typo. Obviously I meant to say “NOT* getting vaxxed is a poor choice”.

But it’s still an important choice and you should kiss the ground every morning that it’s a choice we can make.

Yes. People should get vaxxed. But they’re free to make poor choices if they wish.

(And if your concern is they’re taking up hospital space with their “poor choices”, your opinions on obesity must be WILD)

Huh? 80% those in ICU are obese.

Obesity has always been a massive burden on the system. It’s the triggering factor for most hospital stays.

There’s a reason why the counter term to “obese” is “healthy”.

Direct your anger at all those selfish fats if you care so much about burden on the system.

This is borderline spreading lies and mis-information. If on Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, I believe it would be taken down. For clarification, a good mask like a tight fitting N95 will probably prevent someone from catching the Covid. No one ever suggested a vaccine will 100% prevent the Covid, but what it will do is likely keep you out of the hospital, and likely keep you from dying. Smart people who respect themselves and who respect other people do both. Cruel selfish mis-informed people do neither.

It’s eating FAST food. Your reading comprehension is poor. If you’re angry at people who choose not to vax (and subsequently take up hospital beds) then direct your anger towards anyone who eats a cheeseburger. You live in a society. That means you have to be tolerant of those who don’t share your same values. If a MoFo doesn’t want to get vaxxed and subsequently needs hospitalization I support them getting help. Just like anyone with HIV / heart disease / lung cancer / any other multitude of ailments caused by poor choices. (And judgemental f*cks you fail your own… Read more »

Keep up. Vaxxed catch and spread Covid. More so as they’re likely asymptomatic and subsequently circulate in the community the entirety of their infectious period.

Have you been asleep the past 6 months?

As opposed to the vaccinated stranger at the next table who’s not wearing a mask and has “the covid”?

Newsflash. Both Spread Covid!

Besides, it’s a moot point because if YOU’RE vaccinated it doesn’t matter what personal choice they’ve made.

You’ll never get it though because you’re not interested in reality. You’re interested in self validation. Hence the cognitive dissonance required to celebrate death whilst still claiming moral righteousness.

It sounds like you think getting vaccinated stops you catching and spreading Covid.

You’re stuck in 2020 dude. Getting vaxxed is about personal health (not public). It always was. In fact you’re more likely to spread and infect others as a vaxxed person as you spend more time infectious in the community (unlike this poor dude who wasn’t out partying at Abbey, asymptomatic yet still contagious).

Also.

If you get satisfaction out of someone’s death you need therapy. Honestly seek help. Your poor personal choice in denying yourself treatment is doing you self harm. You’re a very disturbed, unbalanced individual.

Coming on here to express your satisfaction at unvaccinated people suffering and begging for the vaccine is distasteful given the fact that many vaccinated people have gotten covid and also died. Being vaccinated doesn’t mean you can’t spread it or that it won’t kill you. Covid can also exacerbate whatever chronic medical issues a person may have. I hear you and agree, but his selfishness now requires a plea for money to help support his innocent child. My heart goes out to that child but after 2 years it’s difficult to muster any sympathy for this man. For now, the choice to have a vaccine doesn’t seem to result in death, whereas the choice NOT to clearly can. My only hope is that one person has heard about this and made a choice to get vaccinated as a result.

Not getting a vaccine, possibly spreading disease and death to other people is not someone deserving of “humanity”. If this person gave the Covid, knowingly or unknowingly to co-workers, family and/or other people, and any of those people died, what would you say to the surviving relatives of their loved one’s killer: “oh, the killer deserved humanity for killing my friend/son/co-worker.” Seriously? It is particularly tragic that he leaves behind a three year old son. But as a culture we need to step back from the cult of hyper-individuality; none of us exist in a vacuum, none of us are an island. Our choices, particularly our unwise ones, can have tragic impacts on those around us, those that love us. Until we as a society acknowledge that we are all in this together, COVID will continue to reap its’ grim bounty.
