A demolition permit has been approved for the vacant structure located at 637 La Peer, next door to the La Peer Hotel, to make way for a new four-story commercial building.
The new building will contain 57,276 square feet of space, an addition of more than 10,000 square feet from the plans released in 2019. The project was set to contain a design showroom on the second and mezzanine floors, plus a rooftop restaurant with outdoor dining.

Oooops! I’m so use to additional “luxury” housing stock, (that seems to sit empty after completion) added to this small town. I Just noted, that this is a proposed “commercial” space. With all the empty store fronts dotted the city, good luck leasing the near 60,000 square feet! 😯
Terrific: More “rich-people/tru$t fund kid$/what ever hou$ing.” The so-called “creative city” has $old itself lock-$tock and barrel to “developer$” from outs$de WEHO, and out$ide the United $tate$. RIP: affordable hou$ing, and evidently, any form of genuine rent control. 😥
The architect’s rendering is nice, but a map would be better.
Good. That block (with the exception of the Kimpton Hotel) is ripe for redevelopment.
It’s got to be an improvement. Walking down La Peer, the area is filthy and littered with homeless until you come to the hotel.
So, as a guest at the La Peer Hotel one will have to tolerate the construction noise. Just go and over-develop this area already.
Construction noise?! IN A CITY?! Say it isn’t so…
Lol. Spot on.
