Rapper Yung Bleu was recently arrested in Los Angeles after he reportedly fired shots at individuals who were trying to rob him.
Bleu was arrested at 1 a.m. Jan. 21 outside Bossa Nova restaurant on Sunset Blvd. on one felony count of discharging a firearm.
Bleu and his companions were waiting to pick up food when they saw a robbery taking place. One of the robbers allegedly approached Bleu, who fired gunshots to prevent himself from being robbed. One person suffered minor injuries but nothing was stolen.
The rapper has won numerous awards for his music, including “Best New Artist” at the Soul Train Awards and “Best New Hip-Hop Artist” at the BET Awards.
His album, “Moon Boy,” took the top spot on Billboard’s chart of independent albums back in August of last year.
Editor’s Note: This article originally stated that the arrest had taken place in West Hollywood.
noooooooooooooo YOU CAN’T DO THAT TO MY BOY BLEU HE WAS TRYING TO DEFEND HISELF NOW WHAT IF HE GOT SHOT? yall mad wrong
I didn’t even need to look past the headline and photo on this site’s homepage to see that there would be racist comments come in. I’m not saying everyone on this thread, by no means, but those of you who have done it, know who you are (actually those of you are, you probably are in denial about it).
He should be released with zero bail and no preconditions. He presents zero threat to the community. In fact, he is a victim of systemic racism in our legal system.
nice sarcasm
Can’t we just put up gates and stop the straight people from entering West Hollywood?
The majority of residents here are straight. Perhaps it’s the bars that attract trouble.
Say what girl!!!
Remember when Mayor Meister requested that the Sheriff’s Entertainment Policing Team — a sergeant and a deputy — be reinstated after they were put on hold as part of COVID-related budget cuts. This is the team that patrols the Sunset Strip.
Remember when Horvath told us that we are misinformed and afraid, that crime hasn’t actually increased — and then S.H.E. voted not to bring back the policing team for Sunset.
Just saying.
This joker–and his companions–came into our community with guns–armed and dangerous. Hopefully he would be charged with murder by now if he had shot an innocent bystander.
Every aspect of this event seems off. Who or what agency released the report?
Correct. We really don’t know enough here. Yes it is a felony to discharge a firearm in public. However, Mr. Bleu might have been justified if he believed he was going to be robbed or killed. It sure seems like he was not the instigator. Law enforcement may have arrested him but that doesn’t mean that the D.A. will prosecute him. Nobody was injured and he had reason to be frightened. I don’t own a gun, but I have an app on my phone that makes loud police siren sounds. You bet I’d use that app in a dark parking… Read more »
very curious as to why he was arrested. weren’t the perps taken in? something is fishy, unless we are back to square one,
firing a gun at people seems fine to you?????
Exactly!!!
I wish I could figure out what you are trying to say. I can only hope you’re not part of the Weho City government with your level of reasoning. I suspect he was arrested in some way relates to the same reason why some people don’t want a hip-hop galosh store in their fancy neighborhood, a few blocks away.
How long did it take the Sheriff to arrive? Couldn’t the neighborhood ambassadors handle this? Sound like the sheriff arrested the wrong guy who was protecting his people. Interesting that the news article has no byline and cites no source for the information.
Arrest him? Ask him to be part of the community watch!
I suppose you could nominate him for the City’s annual “Crime Fighters” award.
LOL
Looks like a quality guy. Hard to believe it.
Your sarcasm is typically annoying but tolerable, as you’re obviously looking to get people’s hackles up. This comment, however, is blatantly racist and offensive and I sincerely hope the editors will remove it.
The racism is with you when you assume the guy’s race is being disparaged. There are a number of other factors that likely caused the sarcastic remark.
Now I see why Floridians have the worst reputation in the country. In fact, the word Cracker was invented especially for ignorant Floridians. They were called crackers because they thought they were part of the “old south” when the rest of them saw Floridians as a wisecrack in comparison to other southerners. When your people are so ignorant that others in the old south recognize and name them for their ignorance, well, let’s just say you’re dealing with a special type of stupid when it comes to Florida crackers like Ham Shipey.
LOL. You don’t think he’s a “quality guy”?????
Might be more to the story, but based off the reporting, it is ridiculous that the LAPD arrests someone for protecting themselves and staying at the scene while the robber gets away. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
LAPD? You’re in the wrong town. Nonetheless, firing a gun is not a good idea.
Outside of the petty semantic comment about which police department, as there are two Bossa Novas on Sunset, I wouldn’t argue that firing a gun isn’t a good idea. That said, a gun was also fired at him, as his friend was grazed by a gun shot from the robber. The robber was actively committing armed robbery and coming after him. He should have the right to defend himself. He stayed at the scene of the crime and was arrested for defending himself while the robber was not arrested. WeHo police continue to amaze me.
Who said a gun was fired at him? What’s your source? Jurisdiction is not semantics.
Exactly!!! Wasn’t a customer robbed and killed there recently?
That would be the one in LA. This happened at the one in Weho.
