Assemblyman Richard Bloom has bowed out of the crowded race for County Supervisor (Third District), leaving three candidates competing for the powerful position.
With nearly nine months on the campaign trail under his belt, Bloom announced his departure from the race on Tuesday, saying he wanted to focus on his remaining term as assemblyman for District 50.
After a great deal of thought and discussion with my family and advisors, I have decided to end my campaign for Supervisor and focus on serving my constituents for the remainder of my final term in the State Assembly. pic.twitter.com/uzzY5SW7Gl

His decision came on the heels of L.A. County Controller Ron Galperin’s exit from the race. Galperin is now running for the statewide position. Both moves were likely influenced by the new boundaries of the district, which were redrawn in December, giving voters in the San Fernando Valley greater sway over the results of the election.
Remaining in the race to succeed Supervisor Sheila Kuehl are West Hollywood Councilmember Lindsey Horvath, State Sen. Henry Stern and State Sen. Bob Hertzberg, the most recent candidate to file. Both state senators represent districts in the Valley. Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
Bloom was actually the strongest candidate, with a recognizable name in the city of Los Angeles. Wouldn’t be surprised if someone else joins the race. Mike Bonin?
Never again.
Lindsey Horvath has blood on her hands for enacted medical apartheid under her Mayorship, violating the Civil Rights Act, “for our safety”.
She would be wise to recall the penalty for colluding to violate Voluntary Informed Consent under the Nuremberg Code.
You have blood on your hands for spreading disinformation about vaccines and COVID-19. Shame on you William. Karma comes full circle.
I know you don’t see it now, anon, but people like me are fighting FOR you, your families, and your kids. God bless, fellow traveler.
Are you the same “West,” who spoke over video Zoom at the Council meeting on Monday? Your born name is “William?” Just curious.
I’d be interested to see who, if anyone, Bloom endorses..
Richard Bloom understands the concept of public service. On the other hand Lindsey Horvath has likely reached her level of incompetence.
Everything must be done to see Lindsey Horvath is not re-elected to the West Hollywood City Council or as supervisor of Los Angeles County. She is nothing but a self-promoting political hack. She shows up at every event which means she has no job. Except promoting herself and probably living off her political donations. The 40-Year-Old Horvath is a total sham.
Hertzberg now has my vote. Huge NO on Lindsey Horvath. I live in West Hollywood and would never vote for this candidate ever. She will sell out her constituents for personal gain a every opportunity. No No Never Horvath.
On the other hand, a vote FOR her would get her out of WEHO, yes?
No. She would be replacing Sheila Kuehl who represents West Hollywood among other areas on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. We want Horvath out of all elected office.
I’d still rather have her off the council
Let’s hope she get neither.
Only to have more power at the county level. It’s a no win situation. So disappointing…I used to support her but her politics are too far left for my liking adding to the decline in the quality of life for West Hollywood. No thanks.
GO LINDSEY!!!
As a late-80s/early 90s veteran ACT UP and other-issues observer of the Supes when it was still a bastion of right-wing men (with apologies to Kenny Hahn and Ed Edelman), I’d say Horvath is supremely qualified to rep the 3rd district along with the other progressive women on the Board.

Please articulate what you claim to be three major assets Ms. Horvath would bring to the table. Those would hopefully be recognizable accomplishments of action.
Horvath is a proven progressive and ally of the LGBTQ community. She has become something of a transportation expert through her advocacy to bring Metro to West Hollywood. She had the moxie and independence to be the only Council member to oppose the plan to pass earthquake retro-fitting costs on to tenants from the very start of the two year study process. She worked with community activists to successfully derail that plan. That’s three.
Are you now speaking for Ty Geltmaker? The question was specifically directed to him. Seems you might be dedicated to increasing your own visibility any way possible.
If you want to reach the younger generation, you’re going to have to stop using words like moxie. Not too many people under the age of 40 know what moxie means, if they did know, they want more than moxie. They want someone who gets results and not just in it for the spotlight and opportunity for personal gain. Horvath (and the younger CC members) got sucked into and became part of the old school way of doing things. Weho needs new blood in leadership and vision. Weho needs a new generation of leaders. We need people who are not… Read more »
Ms Horvath is:
— A principled, smart graduate of Notre Dame, able to confront doctrinaire purveyors of dogma of any ilk with common sense.
— Fully-informed of LA County issues well beyond WeHo boundaries like no other WeHo Council Member or current Supes Board Rep.
— A kind person who knows how to listen.
I have disagreed with just about every decision that Lindsey Horvath has made in the past few years. I object to the way she has colluded with Erickson and Shyne to force through issues that most residents of West Hollywood do NOT agree with.
Her “woke” blinders will seem even more laughable when we look back in a few years.
She’s a nice enough person with an BA from an adequate university. That should get her an entry-level job at many businesses, and has nothing to do with whether she should be elected to public office.
I agree. I used to be a big Horvath supporter but not after the last year. And her alliance with Shyne & Erickson is most troubling.
Notre Dame, where she was a Republican?
If that’s your first asset that comes to mind, then I’ll vote for Henry Stern because Harvard will always trump Notre Dame. Fair Harvard!
In response, Ms. Horvath may be a graduate of Notre Dame, and may be smart according to certain standards but that visibly excluded principled behavior and decisions. Yes she may have become fully informed of LA County issues as that was the pond she aspired to swim in and seemingly used her city council position in West Hollywood to propel herself there rather than demonstrating responsible civic measures required in WH. Ms. Horvath appears to listen in a kindly, non-combative manner but does not directly engage or take responsibility for committing herself or solving the specific matter. A creatively elusive… Read more »
I think Lindsey Horvath actually has a chance of winning.
Although the District is largely in the Valley, which helps the other candidates, Horvath will have strong appeal on the Westside where neither Stern nor Hertzberg have deep roots. Horvath will be competitive and will have supporters in the Valley.
Give me a break. Let’s take a walking poll around West Hollywood. Most don’t even who the mayor is let along Lindsey Horvath.
Maybe true. And most of those don’t even vote. And many, many, are younger, and live here for like an average of 2 years. So what is your point?
