A broken water main flooded subterranean parking garages near Holloway and La Cienega on Tuesday morning. Water was also seen pouring into the streets. Stay tuned for further updates.
Actually Fountain @ Hacienda Place. As of Tuesday night, Fountain is still closed for a few blocks starting at La Cienega.

Patchwork Infrastructure.
Improving the infrastructure of West Hollywood. Great idea, Did anyone in the city ever consider it during the drive for redevelopment one patchwork project at a time.
Unless the pipes are owned by a private development, I’m pretty sure the primary responsibility of pipeline maintenance and replacement lies upon the water providers – LADWP and BH Water & Sewer – at the cost of the ratepayers. West Hollywood does not sell or distribute water so why would they be directly responsible for it’s cost or delivery?
I didn’t elaborate but it makes sense to keep these providers in the loop and abreast of development issues and at the very least consult with them according to some standard. Otherwise everything is a surprise that could have been anticipated, hence the patchwork result.

I’m just waiting for someone to blame this on Shyne/Horvath/Erickson. Because *everything* is their fault.
Oh, Alan, so you are blaming that on Shyne/Horvath/Erickson, specifically? I don’t get your humor, sometimes. Why don’t we go crap on Guarrielo’s veteran monument? I mean, he was on the Council. Must be somewhat to blame. Oh wait, there are homeless people crapping on that already. I’m sure that, too, can all can be blamed on Shyne/Horvath/Erickson. 🙂
I read your comment. I understood it. I was just wondering if you are blaming it all on Shyne/Horvath/Erickson. That was my initial question. When you said “I’ll take the bait,” was that in reference to Shyne/Horvath/Erickson? Or government, in general (past and present)? If it is the latter, then that wasn’t “taking the bait.” Because this crap is getting old, and tired. Two of those three have been on the Council for only 16 months. And there is a contingent of people on this site who seem to blame everything and anything on them. I wasn’t being facetious when… Read more »
Thank you Alan, we can always count on you for a clever, (and in this case, accurate), rejoinder.
If this was a result of an accident arising out of that construction site there is at least a chance the developer could be liable for upgrading the pipes along that area of La Cienega.
The unbridled development, caused by the City Council’s bowing to developers and their money, is the cause of this. Demolish a single family home and put a 10 unit condo on that same footprint; multiply that by 500, then do not do anything to update the infrastructure. There’s your water main break!

Ok, I’ll take the bait. Governments at all levels have failed on infrastructure, but by golly, we sure do have pretty crosswalks!

My comment stands on its own, as written.

Wonder all you want! 🙂
Ooh, I was up *all night* thinking about it. 🙂
