They look great! What a smart idea to enhance and help define our east side businesses. It would be great if we could eventually have a festival on the east side that celebrates our unique history and diversity! Great job!

So now we will be able to be robbed at gunpoint under prettier lights while the City Council ignores the safety needs and wants of the Citizens.

Good view of the lanterns on Santa Monica Blvd.I hope they don’t add to the glare common to many urban streets. Are the lanterns on a timer where they go dark at 1 or 2 AM? It is nice to see the lights in the early evening hours, but after most people are asleep,it would be smart to turn them off.
The council members should stick to picking out lanterns and flags. They hurt our community in real ways when they force their dogma and ideology on the vast majority of residents who loudly disagree with them.
I love these lights, and I’m glad they’re up. I also wish the city council put as much thought into public safety. As much as I like my rainbows and these awesome lights, as long as we continue to be subjected to armed robberies and insane discussions about cutting the law enforcement budget, these awesome lights won’t be enough to earn my vote for re-election.

Beloved? Waste of taxpayer money. Our leaders are obsessed with wasting tax payer money on painting colors on crosswalks and hanging colored plastic globes while debating cutting the sheriff’s budget and homeless overtaking our public spaces. Not beloved.

Keep them on! That’s when most crime takes place.
