A mental health and addiction center was burglarized early this morning in West Hollywood.

The CAST Center on Doheny Drive and its neighboring business, Bravo Toast, were broken into about 5:30 a.m., according to the center’s Mike Bayer.

Surveillance footage shows a man entering through a back door, leaving him with about $4,000 in damages and stolen goods. Bravo Toast’s cash register was reportedly stolen as well.

The CAST Center is one of the country’s leading mental health and addiction outpatient facilities, helping people from West Hollywood and from around the world. He has run his business for eight years and has never been burglarized before.

“For someone to rob us is, frankly, bizarre,” said Bayer, who lived in West Hollywood as a teenager. “It’s not the same place it used to be.”

This was obviously an inside job. Someone intentionally left the door unlocked and had this planned all along.

Let’s not bring defunding the sheriff into this incident.

Whoever did this was probably mentally ill so if he’s caught we should let him go. Just like felons with guns, smash and grabbers etc. since we don’t have a crime problem. We have a “mental health problem. “

Opportunistic crime. Open gate and unlocked door. These criminals walk around checking doors, windows and cars every night of the week. If anything is left open they go in. Stay vigilant, always check to make sure all entry points are secured, even if you’re just going out to walk your dog.

I probably think this wasn’t random but calculated as in the form of a current or former client/employee who relied and probably had his service funded and subsidized at worse and then the irony is a case of—Those that bite the hands that feed them /(provide recovery treatment). This person let his proclivities and addictions and relapses destroy and damage a place of drug treatment services and yes got access to an area that people don’t think will be burgled —a local non profit addiction medical center, other than former or current clients who take advantage of the situation by… Read more »

Whoever did this is a disgusting low-life. It is one thing to break into a business, or residential property (which is awful), but breaking into a place that helps people?

Not only bizarre but seems like he already knew it might be open and where it lead. This person was likely a client.
